Temptation

“So how close did I get this time,” Superboy asked from behind her in the altered voice the suit he was wearing produced. She glanced up from the research she was doing and was once again struck by how imposing the Kryptonian stealth suit he was wearing was. The silver and black faceless monstrosity bore no emblems that marked it as Kryptonian for which she was glad. While it prevented sensors and camera’s from taking pictures an eye witness could still expose her and Superboy’s extra curricular activities.

“You got within ten feet before I heard you that’s pretty good,” She had been focusing on her work but that wasn’t unusual. “Your early I thought you were supposed to be having dinner with the family?”

“Clark, Lois and Chris had to ask for a rain check, Luthor tried to escape from prison again.” He pulled off the faceless helmet as he looked over her shoulder. “What exactly are you researching?” He was staring at the list with a curious look on his face.

“It looks like Wilson might have been killing heroes even before he recruited Deathwing to do it.” She hadn’t been happy to notice that some unsolved deaths now seemed to be linked to the Resurrected Ravager.

“I didn’t even know some of these people where dead.” He said looking sad then as he read the list. “I probably should do a better job of looking into how things changed now that I”ve been back for a while.”

“You’ve been busy the last few weeks,” She said calmly. “Burning the candle at both ends helping Superman with Chris and not to mention our activities ever since you captured Ravager for me.” She didn’t bring up the other elephant in the room.

“And burying Joseph when he got killed trying to save Luthor from being murdered by those Tamaranean clones. “ He sounded sad but also conflicted. “And then Luthor comes back resurrected by one of Kelex’s children with all of Superman’s powers and nearly wrecks Metropolis attacking him.” She was reminded again of what Superboy said to her after he pulled Ravager out of a Bialyan fortress in under three minutes about how much he and the rest of the Kryptonians held back to keep folks from panicking. She hadn’t really believed it until Luthor not holding back had shattered every piece of glass in Metropolis by hitting Superman as hard as he could. “And then the other one of Kelex’s kids showed up and stripped him of his powers leaving a wrecked city and him finally in jail like he belongs.” He shook himself, “Do you have the specs of that illegal weapons lab using stolen alien tech for me to take out?”

She nodded and brought up the plans as he memorized them quickly. She knew that unlike Superman or the late Bart Allen his memory wasn’t completely perfect but that he’d be able to remember for the few minutes it would take him to over whelm the base when he didn’t hold back. “Good luck.” She said as he pulled the helmet back on and left. She knew that they would have to stop this soon. There was already chatter in certain circles about the mysterious meta human who they estimated was more powerful than Superman causing trouble and ignoring international laws. She knew that once Bruce was fully back on his feet after Talia’s wonder cure that he would figure things out soon enough and put a stop to it.

“The boy is still holding back you know,” A voice said and she turned to see a man she’d been expecting for weeks standing there. She had known sooner or later he’d show up and try to manipulate her by offering to restore her legs. “He cuts loose more while playing dress up with you but he still holds back all of them do even Luthor after my upgrades wasn’t as strong as Kal El and Kon El fully unleashed since he only had about two weeks of bio-converted solar energy inside him.” He smiled then and it was unnerving. “But I’m not here to talk about how much you and the other humans should fear the Kryptonians, I’m here to talk about how unfair it is that Batman once again gets magical healing and gets saved from being crippled unlike you.”

“Go away I won’t make any deals with you not even to walk again,” She said with all the conviction she could muster. She had faced this temptation many times before there were forces out there that could have allowed her to walk again but she had always sworn not to use any method a normal person couldn’t use to recover. She had also sworn never to make a deal with a devil like the one in front of her.

“Who says I’d ever allow you to walk again, I stopped my dear sister from being able to ever heal you simply because your more useful in that chair,” He said with a sinister smile. “Just like I told Batman your of more use in saving Gotham from destruction in that chair than out of it.” She hadn’t been aware of that part of their conversation since Bruce had never shared it with her. She wasn’t surprised but it still hurt. “But I might reconsider enough to allow you to regain the use of your legs after the crisis has passed.” He produced a syringe then. “This shot will very slowly repair your spine it would take about a year and if you survive that long with all the trouble coming you’d wake up able to feel your legs and began rehabilitation and some day walk again.” His smile got even more sinister as he went on. “You see my dear once I’m gone and can no longer directly help my side I’d like to cost the good guys their Oracle and give them back an inferior Batgirl instead.”

“Just go away,” She said doing her best not to stare at the syringe in his hand. “I will never make any deals with you.” He just smiled and then there was a terrible wrenching sensation and a bright flash of light. “Where?” she asked as she realized she was standing again.

“Let me show you what you are really rejecting my dear not just the ability to walk again but the possibility of a truly happy ending for both your families.” She looked around and saw that they were quiet clearly in Wayne Manor though it was strangely full of people. “Comissioner, I’m glad you could get the night off,” Tim said and she was shocked to see that he was talking to what could only be her. Not only was Tim there instead of dead but her older self was walking.

“Unlike Bruce and Terry I know when to take time off Tim.” She said cheerfully and she noticed a little boy with a face similar to Dick’s running up to her calling for his grandma. “Excuse me Tim little Richard wants something.” She heard a noise then and saw an older Bruce emerging with a young dark haried man and then they were back in her clock tower.

“The boy is an interesting case in a lot of futures he becomes the new Batman, truly owning the identity in a way that no one aside from Bruce ever does,” The man said with a shrug. “Of course his back story changes often in some he’s just a stray who comes along, in others he’s Bruce’s son through the actions of either a shadowy government organization or Damian’s actions but in your current future he might not even be born.” He looked at her then. “You can have a chance at that future you glimpsed all you have to do is research the threats to Gotham I point you to and ignore all the rest and I will even give my sister permission to add a second Gotham vigilante to her batch of upcoming resurrections.”

She felt sick as she realized the temptation he was offering wasn’t just her legs but was Tim alive again and a happy future. It was hard to resist agreeing immediately and then she recalled him saying a chance at a happy future. Her training took over and she took what she knew about him and the sobering answer was instantly clear. “You’ll never allow that happy future to come true even if I take the deal that’s why you said chance.” He just frowned and she knew it. “Just get out of here I won’t take your deal.”

“I would try to stop it but you might would have won but I know when I’m not wanted.” He turned away then. “But just so you know you would have saved this city without Batman ever having to call on my aid again you just cost him a chance to avoid having to consider making a deal with me to save his Gotham.” The man was gone then leaving her alone with a horrible feeling in the pit of her stomach she felt this wasn’t over for some reason.

The End.

To Restore her Father

She headed towards the room where her father slept after that woman’s attack on him. She knew that many of their followers were beginning to consider leaving as rumors of her fathers condition were spreading through what remained of the League. If she didn’t find a way to revive her father from his coma that even the pit could not cure soon what was left of his Empire would fall into ruins.

She entered the room and froze as the woman who did that was there and so was the other. Her brother the man who had let her witness his manipulation of her love and had revealed the future that caused all this. They were clearly arguing though no sound escaped them. She was about to summon the guards when the woman finally nodded and vanished. “Ah Talia sorry about that but we were just negotiating what I had to give her in exchange for being able to undo what she has done to your father.” The man frowned then. “I warned you she was dangerous but you just had to put a hit out on Jason Todd.”

She ignored his jibe she regretted the outcome but did not regret trying to destroy a threat to her son’s life. “If you are going to restore my father do so,” She said wishing that she knew more about these things. She knew they had some connection to Superboy’s disappearance and return but with the League’s resources all but destroyed she hadn’t been able to acquire more information.

“Oh no my dear, because of your actions I had to give my dear sister permission to add Jean Paul Valley to her cadre of resurrected and recreated heroes.” The man said darkly. “That means my dear that before Ra’s will so much as open his eyes you will perform three tasks for me and only then will he be restored to you.” The man then smiled his expression turning gentle which was more disturbing than anything she’d seen thus far. “But I am not heartless I will aid you in a small way I have restored half the assets my sister took from the league the money, property and weapons will allow you to hold onto control and rebuild the league while you do this work for me.”

She did not answer him only glanced at her father. “The first task is a simple one there is a file on your personal computer that contains twelve names I want them dead within the week.” He said with a shrug. “They are unimportant but their children’s children would build a better Gotham and I will not have that and one of those descendants would supplant your son as the true heir to Batman’s legacy if you don’t kill them.” She began to suspect that this was all about her son. “Yes Talia this is all about your son.” The man smiled darkly. “I wish for him to grow into the true heir of his father and grand father not to end up something less like Grayson.”

“Explain,” She said considering his words. She had been disturbed by some of the reports coming out of Gotham. She had already began to suspect his partnership with Grayson of the last few weeks was changing her son. She hadn’t had the resources to take any action but now she did.

“It all has to do with the second tasks which will involve this,” He said producing a small case. “It contains a single syringe filled with a lazarus derivative that you will inject into Bruce Wayne it will heal him and allow him to resume being Batman.” He frowned then, “I miscalculated you see I wanted Batman to ask for me to restore him but it will be months before he will do so of his own free will and by then Grayson will have ruined your son and made him weak.” He smiled then. “But once you heal Bruce Wayne he will resume being Batman and will make your son strong and he need never know that I wanted Grayson separated from Damian.”

“Why do you want them separated?” She asked determined to find out what agenda this creature had and how she could come out ahead for her father and son’s sake. She saw the man smile then and he reached out and showed her. She saw her son wearing his father’s cowl standing with an army of his grandfathers soldiers. “The future?” She asked unsure she if she trusted it.

“The future that I want to see happen,” the man said. “But with each day he spends with Grayson another future threatens to replace it.” He touched her again and she saw her son smiling laughing dressed as Nightwing instead of Batman. He was standing with a girl in a red hood they were clearly in love and happy. “This other future threatens to replace the other more and more Grayson is changing your son in ways neither of us like.”

“The third task what is it,” She asked determined that her son would make her proud not take after Grayson. The man smiled and handed her a photo he produced from somewhere. “I need you to break Grant Wilson out of prison and keep him hidden the more he talks the more likely some of my plans will be exposed.” The man then walked over to her father’s beside. “So do we have a deal?”

“Yes I will do the three tasks you ask,” She said and he nodded and reached down touching her father. “When will he awaken?” She had no doubt he would she now had leverage on this creature he didn’t want her love to know he healed him.

“Once the three tasks are completed he will awaken moments after all three have been completed.” He then shrugged. “So about a week since that’s how long it will take you.” He said with a knowing look. “Ignore my sister if she returns she can no longer hurt you or your father as long as you don’t pick another fight by going after Todd again.” He was gone then leaving her alone with her father. She got up and left the room she had things to do.

He sat watching Damian beat up a simple mugger dressed as Robin. He was ready to step in if the boy carried things too far. “I see you took my advice and dusted off the suit,” Mr. K said suddenly beside him. “You will make a fine Batman but I am not too sure about your Robin.” The man then smiled at him.

He ignored it and kept focused on watching Damian. He wished he hadn’t had to put on the suit but there was no one else to do it. “Is there a reason you’re here?” He had expected this Bruce had warned him that Mr. K would probably show up sooner or later.

“Just here to tell you who killed the Titans,” Mr. K said with a shrug. “I told the former Batman after he fell apart that I’d gladly tell someone worth helping and you my boy are worth helping.” He ignored him then noticing that Robin was done and hoping he wouldn’t head up here directly. Bruce had been adamant that Damian was to be kept away from this thing.

“The boy isn’t going to come this way he is determined to prove himself he’ll head to find more trouble like a good little soldier.” Mr. K said with a dark smirk. “Anyway the person who hired your clone to kill the Titans was Grant Wilson.” Mr. K shrugged his shoulder then. “I needed Deathstroke’s help with something and the resurrection of his son was his payment.” So that explained it. “I wouldn’t worry too much Grant lost access to the resources he used to set things in motion when he killed his half sister.” The man then smiled. “You’d love to kill him but you can only kill when your in a rage as the Joker would know.”

“Thanks for the information now go away.” He lept off the roof and began to follow Damian who had taken off in another direction. He wasn’t surprised when Mr. K was beside him again keeping up.

“If you ask nicely I’ll fix Bruce Wayne’s body in a few weeks once he’s mentally in a place to be Batman again.” The man said with a dark smirk. “Of course it won’t be for free and you’ll have to do something in exchange.”

“Go away I won’t make any deals with you,” He saw the man smile and then he was finally alone. He wasn’t surprised by that offer. Bruce was confident that the man would try to bargain to heal the damage done to him and was adamant that no one should make any of those deals. He felt like things were spiraling out of control and he had no choice in anything any more.

Part One of Two

He opened his eyes to find himself bound and gagged in a chair. A glance to the left saw Alfred and Damian also tied up and then he glanced to the right and saw Batman tied up and Deathwing standing next to him. “Good your awake so now Brucie can make his choice,” Deathwing said with a smile. He noticed there was a large crack in the armor he was wearing. He had no idea how he’d got grabbed but that could wait until he got loose. Unfortunately it seemed Deathwing was very good at tying them down. “As you can see Batman tracked me down and damaged my armor so that means he has to pay for it.” The mask lifted to show his own face. “So he has to choose who dies one of his sons or his surrogate daddy.” The smile that twisted his reflections face was horrifying. “If he doesn’t choose all three of you die and he’s left crippled and alone.”

“Perhaps I can make you reconsider,” a voice said. He immediately recognized the man from the description Superman and Batman had given the league. “Your Employer might have told you about me my armored friend I am Mr. K.”

“He mentioned you brought him back to life,” Deathwing said and he saw Batman’s jaw clinch in anger. “Which I could care less about just leave unless you want to die.” A huge blade extended from the armor then.

“You haven’t the power to kill me boy and it is in your best interest to listen to me unless you want to die when your employer is done with you since I’m the only one who can remove that bomb from your brain.” Mr. K said stepping forward. “By the way the son of the bat is nearly free you might want to tighten the bindings on his left wrist.” He glanced over to see that Damian had nearly gotten his arm free. “Oh I’ll handle it.” Mr. K said and walked over and actually secured the arm. “Stay still boy the adults are talking.”

He turned to watch Deathwing again and saw he was staring at Mr. K with a dark look. “What bomb in my brain?” He could tell the statement had bothered him. “And what deal could you possibly offer?”

“The bomb your employer put in so you wouldn’t betray them,” Mr. K said glancing over at him and winking. “It is keyed to your armor, if you fail in your mission or turn on them they will shut down your armor and your head goes kersplat.” Mr. K then smiled. “But I can remove it and even fix your nerve damage so you don’t need that suit of armor to move all I ask in return is that you let the boy and the man you are cloned from live the other two you can kill.” The man in the suit just smiled with a shrug. “I’d even settle for just sparing the boy considering his Grandfather and Mother he’s very likely to grow up to be a champion for my side.” Mr. K then looked at Alfred. “But you know it really isn’t worth it to kill the old bag of bones and you’ve already crippled Batman for the rest of his life so not worth it to kill him either.” He glanced at Bruce who looked tense and didn’t seem to be even trying to get loose which bothered him.

“Your lying, your just stalling for some reason,” Deathwing said and then turned to Batman. “Time to make your choice or all three of them die.” He watched as the gag was removed form Batman’s mouth but before he could say anything a surge of energy shot out of the wall and struck Deathwing squarely in the crack in his armor. He was surprised to see him going down and then seconds later the energy shot back out and formed into Striker one of the Connors.

“Well done Joseph my boy just like my sister planned when she gave you a heads up and that cryptic hint,” Mr. K said smiling broadly. “Oh and Deathwing I wasn’t lying about the bomb.” He glanced back and saw Deathwing’s horrified expression as suddenly his head split open with a loud bang. “Now Sparky head back to where you were and tell my dear sister that I’ll let her get away bending the rules this time but never again.” He reached over and touched Striker and suddenly he was gone. “Now let me just untie you all.” He snapped his fingers and he was free. “You might want to help Bruce up the nano machines Deathwing injected him with have damaged his nerves so badly that he’ll never walk without help again.”

“That can wait,” Batman said glaring at Mr. K. “He said that you brought his employer back to life?” Mr. K nodded completely at ease. “Who was it?” There was a dark edge to Bruce’s question that made it clear he expected an answer.

“I’m afraid that stays my little secret Brucie,” Mr. K said as he turned and approached Damian who was glaring at him. “By the way boy you should contact your mother and check on her the League of Assassins took quiet a beating at the hands of my sister before they surrendered and agreed to her demands.” The man turned back toward him. “And you Mr. Grayson should dust off your Batman outfit because there has to be a Batman and Bruce cannot be it anymore.” The man was gone then leaving more questions than answers.

The Truth about Cody Darkholme

He was laying on the examining bed feeling much better now that he wasn’t puking his guts up every five minutes but he still didn’t understand how any of this happened. The last thing he’d known he’d been asking Nate what he’d learned about his altered memories. He’d been quiet shocked to be told he’d asked for the alterations and that Nate didn’t think he should undo them. He hadn’t had a chance to respond when the Nimrods had attacked in force and he’d found himself dragged along to another world.

“Now Mr. Darkholme since I have retrieved the one you trust can we resume our conversation,” the woman Sage asked as she entered followed by Nate. He nodded and waited to hear what she was going to ask him. “Can you tell me the circumstances of your secondary mutation’s emergence?”

“Oh yeah I can,” He as surprised to be asked about that. “I was with my mom and some others when we were attacked by Sentinels I was hurt bad and then all of a sudden I could use some of the powers of my mom had specifically some from the five X-men she killed as death.” He said shaking his head. “Mom and the others were killed right in front of me but with those additional powers I survived.”

“This confirms my theory,” Sage said turning stepping down. “You misunderstood what your secondary mutation was it was not those powers but instead a form of Empathic mimicry.” She pointed at Nate. “Copy his Telekinetic power if you would?” His confusion must have shown because she looked annoyed and said, “just think to yourself about copying his telekinetic powers just his telekinetic powers.”

“Woah,” he said when he suddenly felt like he could move anything he put his mind too. He could feel the very molecules under neath the table it was far more intense than Hellions TK he’d inherited from his mom.

“Excellent now add his telepathy,” Sage said and he noticed Nate was being quiet but he didn’t object so he thought about it and then his newly acquired TK’s strength was cut in half and he was a telepath again. “I thought as much it appears you can take up to five abilities and retain them but for each ability you copy the strength percentage you copy appears to divide evenly between them when you powers are working properly.”

“Why wasn’t he aware of this?” Nate asked finally speaking up and he marveled at how much power Nate Grey must actually have if he was currently possessing both abilities at half strength. In fact it was too much power so he wished he could give them up and to his surprise they vanished.

“My guess is that it was a sort of shock from his power emerging and focusing on his mother while she was killed,” Sage said shaking her head. “Arriving in our world where Rogue is alive but with a different power set triggered a back lash that made them both sick and reset his power to normal.” Sage then waved at them dismissively. “Now that his power is normalized you can take him back to the rest of your party I suspect he will continue to travel with you since he shows the same chronal energy traces all of you do.”

He found himself following Nate back toward wherever the others were staying. “Look I know it can be hard to end up in another world that isn’t your own,” Nate said as they walked. “If you want to talk about it I’m here.”

“I just want to know what I volunteered to forget,” He said and saw Nate start. “I keep trying to think what I could possibly have forgotten.” He truthfully didn’t have much to stay alive for back on his original world his parents were dead, most of his friends and former girlfriends were dead

“There was no final mission people were given a choice of forgetting and staying on Genosha or going to a secret second sanctuary.” Nate said surprising him. “You chose to forget so someone else could go as there was limited resources on it.”

“Excuse me,” A familiar voice said and he turned to see his mother standing there. He felt like hyperventilating he knew it wasn’t really her but she looked the same as she had when she was killed. “I was told you were my son in the other world with Northstar?”

“Yes, after you gave up on relationships you decided you still wanted kids and asked him to donate sperm,” he said feeling weird telling this to a version of his mother. “He and his eventually husband stayed in the picture and we made a really unusual family but we were happy.”

“I’m glad one version of me got to be a mother and be happy then,” Rogue said as she turned toward Nate and addressed him. “Do me a favor Sugah if you make it back to the past tell me not to waste any more time in that cycle of angst with Gambit and find someone I can have a family with.” She turned and left not waiting for Nate’s answer.

“Will you tell her if you make it to the past?” He asked a bit shocked at her sudden departure. Nate looked undecided. “I mean don’t you think you should she just asked you to pass on a message to her past self?”

“And it won’t change her fate but it could cost the Rogue of my time a chance to be happy with Gambit,” Nate said looking annoyed. “That’s the problem with travel between worlds it is always a confusing mess even if you find a world you are happier in.” He didn’t say anything in response as he got the impression Nate didn’t want to talk about it. “Let me introduce you to the others.” Nate finally said as the reached the area they were apparently supposed to stay in.

The Fall of the King

“There is no way your going into the ghost world to fight that monster Young man,” Maddie Fenton said to the real Danny as they all stood around trying to decide what to do. He knew he should just take off on his own but every time he moved toward the portal he got a death glare from Jazz and Sam. “We will prepare and when he comes out here then we’ll...” She trailed off and collapsed. He looked around and saw everyone else falling as well.

“Sorry about that brother but this is a conversation just for us two ghost.” Ghost Seed Danny said as he lowered down. “Vlad refuses to help unless Maddie agrees to leave Jack and marry him.” He said with a snort. “That means the only way to defeat Mr. X is to use my back up plan that is just for you.”

“I’m not helping you,” He said as he bent down and checked to make sure everyone was still breathing. “You could have stopped all this from happening but instead you kept quiet about who he was and what he wanted.” All of this could have been avoided and if the ghost zone really was being taken over right now it was all this ghost Seed Danny’s fault.

“Sure I could have by killing Tucker,” The ghost seed Danny said. “The seed inside Tucker would have eventually killed him if Mr. X didn’t fuse with it that’s why I let it happen.” He followed the Ghost Seed’s line of site to see him staring at Tucker. “He’s an annoying nerd but I’m still found of him.” The ghost seed pulled out a box. “This armor is your ticket to victory it can boost your powers a hundred times just like the old Exo-suit.”

“What’s the catch?” He asked cautiously. “I mean there has to be a catch you’d use it yourself if there weren’t any draw backs?” He saw the ghost seed smile and then he knew. “It will kill me won’t it?”

“Yes, the boosting process causes fatal instability that will cause you to destabilize twenty minutes after you first activate it.” The ghost seed said tossing him the box. “Just push the button to activate it and by the way some advice on how to beat him once you get that scepter away from him use it to put him to sleep in a sarcophagus for a few thousand years unless you’d rather kill him.” The ghost seed smile darkly. “Then you can fix the ghost zone from all the damage I did to it and bring the scepter back here where I’ll be happy to take possession of it.”

He wasn’t about to let that monster get the scepter but the sleep coffin was a good suggestion. “Will you be coming with me into the ghost zone?” He asked not sure he wanted this monster near him but he didn’t want to leave him here.

“I’m wanted by the Observents, so no, I’ll be staying in this world where I’m safe from them.” The ghost seed version of him took off then flying away threw the ceiling.
He looked over at his family and friends he would miss them even the real Danny but he wasn’t stupid there wasn’t any other way. He took off into the ghost zone and it didn’t take long to find Mr. X he was sitting on a throne as Pyramids were being built in the ghost zone. “Well lets see what this armor can do.” He pushed the button the cube and found himself wrapped in armor that looked straight out of his old Doomed game.

He felt stronger than he’d ever felt before even his memories of the Exo-suit paled in comparison to this. He saw them then the summoned army of Egyptian style ghost heading toward him and just let loose. He was amazed at how quickly they were destroyed. He saw two giant Sphynx heading for him so he let go with a ghostly wail that unlike last time destroyed them and most of the surrounding area. “No, This is impossible I made sure I was the strongest ghost possible there is no way you can have such power.” Mr. X said sounding terrified. “There is no way you can have gained that much power without killing yourself.”

“Stopping you is worth dying I think since you plan to take over the world.” He said to Mr. X as he made it to him and tore the staff out of his hands. “I think you should go to sleep now.” He just thought it and the scepter bowing to his insane power levels made it happen as the casket closed around him he hard Mr. X screaming. He simply wished him asleep and there was nothing but silence. “I’m sending you to the Observents so they can decide what to do with you.” He then looked around at the devastation. “Fix this.” he said and instantly the ghost zone was restored as if none of the recent troubles had ever happened. “Incredible anything I think just happens.” He realized then he could use the scepter to save himself to keep this power and that scared him. “Can’t let anyone else get this.” So he made a final wish and the scepter exploded into fragments.

“Ghost Danny you saved us all,” Green Dani yelled as she and Ghost Jack flew towards him. He hadn’t seen them at all during that brief battle. “I can’t believe how easily you beat him he stood up to everything the other ghost who fought him threw at him.”

“It wasn’t that easy.” He said thinking about the fact he was dying now. “I have to go now Dani, Jack and I won’t be back this suit that gave me this power is killing me.” He saw the horror in their eyes. “There might be something that can save me back in the real world but I have to get to it if I don’t I just want to say goodbye.” He saw how sad they were but he didn’t have time. He took off back toward the real world he had to get back to the lab and find the ecto dejecto it should stabilize him like it did Dani that time.

He could feel something beginning to happen the surge in power he’d experienced was beginning to fade and fade quickly. He could bearly keep his speed up as he emerged from the portal and collapsed to his knees. He saw the others staring at him in shock. “I need...” he tried to say but then pain wracked his body and he felt himself starting to melt.

“It wouldn’t save you but fortunately I can,” Ghost Seed Danny said coming from somewhere behind him. “Goodnight.” He grabbed his arm and hit a hidden button on the glove and everything went dark.

The End.

The Return
Part 1 of 3

The longer he was in the ghost zone the easier it became to focus. He knew that when he’d been merged with Jack he’d flitted from one impulse to the next and that it had slowed down once they separated but here helping the ghost seed ghost attempt to rebuild their town while searching for the ghost copy of Danny Phantom his mind was clearer than it had ever been. He understood the original Jack so well but he was glad he was changing. He didn’t want to be that flighty and while he respected how much the man loved his family and hoped he could make one of his own with Ghost Maddie and Ghost Jazz when they arrived he didn’t want to be that clueless. “There’s your store fixed Mrs. Buncombe,” he told the elderly ghost woman whose corner store he’d helped repair.

“Hey Jack,” Dani called as she dropped down. “You need to come quick its Ghost Danny he’s finally back.” She was extremely excited. “Maybe if you come with me he’ll stay here in the ghost zone with us.” She took off so he followed after her. He’d liked the idea of him staying with him and Dani and joining the family they seemed to be forming. “There he is.” She said pointing to the young ghost looking around with a scowl. “Your back.” She said flying in and hugging him.

“Green Dani your alive,” he said and smiled weakly. “I’m glad.” He then looked over at him. “So Jack’s ghost seed finally activated.” He could tell this Danny was wary around him. He watched as the boy went back to looking around. “Is the Fenton portal working so I can get back or do I need to go use Vlad’s.”

“Your still going back?” Dani said clearly upset. “Even after everything that happened?” She looked really distraught. “There’s a Sam here now you don’t need to go back you can date Ghost Sam.” He doubted this Danny would like the crazy Eco-terrorist version of Sam that was currently building a huge garden in the ghost zone and talking about returning to save Mother Earth.

“I may not be staying in the real world but I need to settle things and wait till this whole mess with the ghost seeds is over.” He said in a harsh tone. “Even if I come back I probably won’t stay in the ghost Amity Park if I come back I’ll make a clean break and find my own home but you can come visit.”

“I guess that’s better than nothing,” Dani said and then turned toward him. “I’m going home Jack you can show him to the portal.” She took off then and he knew she was upset. He understood she was the part of the real Dani that wanted a home a family.

“The portal is this way,” He said and took off the boy followed after him. “Are you really going to come back or were you just saying that to Dani?” He wasn’t sure what answer the boy would give him he seemed determined but there was a dark edge and the silence was getting to him. “We need to go around this island up ahead Ghost Sam is very protective of her plants.” He realized that it was too much to hope that she wouldn’t see them as Ghost Sam flew up to greet them.

“Danny your back you can join me here on my new Paradise and help me plan to save Mother Earth.” He wasn’t sure how they were going to avoid a fight. She had mellowed some what since separating from Sam but she still seemed volatile.

“Go back to your garden Sam.” Ghost Danny said in a tone that made it clear he wasn’t going with her. He braced himself or a fight that he really didn’t want to have because she was stronger than him. “I’m not kidding.” He said and his eyes turned an icy blue and the temperature dropped.

“I won’t forget this,” The ghost Sam said and dove back to her Garden. He was relieved they hadn’t ended up in a fight but he was getting more wary about the boy. They flew on silently and arrived at the portal.

“Before I go threw tell me everything that has happened.” The boy said with a frown so he did. He laid out everything that he’d been told by the real Danny when he’d come to check on how their search was going. “I don’t know if I’ll be back but take care of Green Dani she needs a dad.” Ghost Danny dived threw the portal then leaving him staring at it all alone.

The Return
Part 2

He slid through the roof of Sam’s room. He had turned invisible as soon as he existed the Fenton Portal. He needed to talk to Sam first and he didn’t want an audience. He was relieved when he made it out without running into the real Danny Fenton or Dani as their ghost sense would have detected him even if he was invisible.

He flew straight to Sam’s even though a small part of him just wanted to skip what he knew wasn’t going to be a pleasant experience. He made his way into her room not surprised to see her sitting on her bed writing in her dairy. He did his best not think about the things he knew thanks to the other ghost seed ghost reading to him from that dairy. “Sam,” He said making himself visible. “It is good to see you gain.” He watched her eyes widen as she seemed to get it. “I’m sorry it took me so long to make my way out of the ghost zone.”

She looked elated for a moment and then guard. “How do I know you are really Ghost Danny and not just that ghost seed ghost playing games again.” He should have seen that coming. “Tell me something that only Ghost Danny would know but that I didn’t write in my dairy.”

“He only read parts of your dairy to me Sam I don’t know what you left out give me a starting point.” He asked which seemed to surprise her. “Just pick a moment and I’ll do my best to remember it or tell you if he read it to me.”

She seemed lost in thought for a moment. “When you were reluctant to get involved with me what was the reason you gave?” She looked grim. “All I wrote in my dairy was that it was a stupid reason and you were a real butt hole about things.”

“I told you that I loved you and that was why I couldn’t stay because some day Danny would grow up and admit how he felt and it wasn’t fair to him or me to be here when that happened.” She smiled then and hugged him before going for a kiss. He pulled back away from her before she could kiss him. “No way Sam, we aren’t going down that road again.” He saw her start. “I didn’t come back to be with you I came back to let you know I was alive and to help the real Danny deal with the ghost seeds and Mr. X and then I am gone for good.”

“Why is it because of the things he read to you from my dairy?” She asked looking heartbroken. “I admit I was a bit conflicted when we started dating but I got over it I love you and I choose you.” She looked seconds away from begging.

“It isn’t about your dairy, I’m a ghost you’re a human it won’t work now or ever Green Dani was right about that.” He floated up to the roof. “I just wanted to talk to you about this first before I go deal with the mess that is the real Danny Fenton and his family.” He could see the tears she was struggling to hold back. “I’m sorry Sam good bye.” He dove through the roof turning invisible again feeling like a giant ass but it was necessary.

The Return
Part 3

“Ghost Jack confirms that it really is Ghost Danny,” Dani said as she returned form checking in with the ghost seed ghost that came out of Jack. She looked over at the ghostly version of Danny that didn’t look like he wanted to be here at all. “He was surprised that it took us so long to come asks though?”

“He didn’t know I was going to see Sam first,” The Ghost copy of her son said with a shrug. She knew that tone so well it was the tone Danny used when he didn’t want to really talk about something and was hoping they’d just go away. She again felt guilty for how often they had just gone away which led to them not even really knowing their own son.

“What took you so long to come back?” Jazz asked before anyone else could. “Danny, Mom and Dad found the broken thermos over two weeks ago.” She had wondered about that herself and even considered that the missing ghost clone could have been killed.

“I remember being torn from the thermos and drug behind the shock wave.” The ghost copy said with a frown. “After what seemed like ages the wave dissipated enough to break free and I stopped to rest in a part of the ghost zone I’d never seen before.” He looked away then. “Once I was strong enough to start heading back I did but it took several days of flying before I got back to anywhere I recognized and even then I was shocked at how messed up everything was.” The copy looked back at them. “I probably could have made it back faster if I’d pushed but I had a lot to think about.” He looked around then. “If You’ll excuse me I’m tired and we can finish this another time.” He turned invisible then and took off.

“Don’t go after him Danny,” She said quickly seeing her son was about to take off after him. “I know we don’t know the whole story but just leave him be for now.” He looked for a moment like he was going to disobey her. “Why don’t you go call Sam and see how she’s taking things?” That got his attention and he nodded walking up the stairs.

Note: The original version of Travelers was written under my Glass wolf pen name. This rewrite starts virtually identical to the prologue of the original fic but the follow up stories will go in a vastly different direction. It is basically the same concept and explanation for their travels but the nature of the worlds they visit and how long they still will be different. Everything will be clear by the end of this fic that acts as a prologue to the rewritten universe. I will be formating the fic as a series of one shots spread out over the journey as well as a series of fics focused on the characters left behind at home.

Travelers Rewrite
The Journey Begins

“Is there any way your information could be wrong?” Dende asked the bureaucrat standing on the edge of the platform with him. “Is it possible that your records are incorrect and this venture is unnecessary?” He sincerely hoped it wasn’t because he could not imagine any of his charges taking this well.

“Our records are never wrong; they have to take this trip.” Dende felt a pang of irritation at how the bureaucrat was dead set on this course of action without even double checking that it was necessary. Even though he could easily see that this was going to cause a great deal of trouble for him and his world.

“Couldn’t you just double check the records before yanking these two young men out of their lives?” He saw the oni glare at him in response. “I mean it wouldn’t take but a few minutes for you to send an inquiry.”

“That isn’t my department I am supposed to inform them of their fate and send them on their way.” He knew it was a lost cause then and gave up on getting him to double check. He was going to have a devil of a time explaining this to their families and once again he wished for the days before had to deal with the bureaucracy that governed all the various facets of creation. “It is time to bring them here.”

“Can’t we at least wait till they finish their dates?” He asked looking back down at the nightclub where the two where currently dancing with two girls they had met the week before. The oni shook his head and clapped his hands causing the two to appear on the look out looking dizzy and confused. “I’m sorry about this but there isn’t anything I can do.” He said to them as they turned to him for answers. “I just wish I could have learned of this earlier so it wouldn’t have been sprung on you like this.”

“These are Goten and Trunks the half saiya-jin offspring of the two remaining pureblood saiya-jins in this time line?” Dende nodded in response and watched as he turned toward the stunned youths. “I am pleased to inform you that the department of time line management’s records indicate the two of you are to be travelers for the duration of twenty one months and that you will visit twenty one worlds.”

Dende couldn’t believe that was all the explanation he was going to give them. “Dende what is going on here?” Trunks demanded angrily. “Who is this guy and what the hell is a traveler?” He could tell their shock and anger hadn’t phased the oni at all.

Dende was reminded of his father and once again wondered how he was going to explain this to Vegeta. “He works for the governing bureaucracy in charge of watching over time lines.” He glanced over at the Oni wishing he would speak up and explain this to them. “I wish I could do something to prevent this but word has come from higher up that I can’t.”

The oni ignored him and addressed the two young men. “A traveler is a person our records indicate must disappear from their own time line and journey through alternate worlds until a set period of time is up.” He looked at them as if they were all stupid as he continued. “You are familiar with alternate time lines?”

“Yes, we are familiar with alternate time lines.” Trunks said angrily as he glared at him. “But what records and why do we have to do anything you say?” Dende watched as the oni glanced at his watch and then turned back toward them with an annoyed look on his face.

“The records of the time line management department indicate you two are to vanish from this time line for a duration of twenty one mon...” He stopped when a ball of energy whizzed by his head. “That was uncalled for.” He said primely and Dende had to suppress a laugh. “The simple fact is our records state this will happen so it has to happen.”

“Why?” Goten asked speaking for the first time. “I mean who controls the records and what would happen if we don’t go?” Dende was surprised Goten wasn’t stupid but he wasn’t as bright as either his best friend or his older brother.

“The records are controlled by a different department I just deal with enforcement.” The oni said glancing at his watch again. “And if you don’t depart at the prearranged time then this time line and all the others you were scheduled to arrive in will have to be removed to protect the rest.” Dende watched the shock on their face at the implication.

“When you say removed?” Trunks asked a dark look in his eyes. “Are you saying that everything will be destroyed?” Dende knew that was exactly what the oni was saying but he wasn’t going to be the one to bring it up.

“Yes, it is the only way to protect other time lines from a cascading reaction that could destroy all of creation.” The oni said still watching his watch as if the destruction of universes was business as usual to him. “Our department has to keep order otherwise time travel would wreck countless universes.” He smiled. “Why the situation with your alternate self involved four time lines and countless hours of paperwork.” He said pointing to trunks. “Now the two of you are powerful enough to make this difficult will you co-operate or shall I schedule this universe for destruction.”

“Can we do anything to stop this Dende?” Goten asked him as Trunks was just glaring at the ground. Dende shook his head as he saw the two look away. “I guess we don’t have a choice about it do we Trunks?”

“No, we don’t.” Trunks said turning a dark glare on the Oni. “What about our families will we get to say good bye to them?” The oni shook his head no as he continued to stare at his watch. “Dende will you tell them?”

“Of course I don’t think your father will take it well.” He said with a frown. “I imagine your mothers won’t take it very well either.” He saw the Oni finally turn away from his watch. “I will see the two of you when you return.” The two young men nodded and then looked over at each other.

“On the bright side Trunks at least we’ll be together,” Goten said cheerfully and then he saw it a quick flash of regret on the Oni’s face. He stepped forward before the Oni could take any action and put himself between them. “Dende what are you...” He raised his hand causing Goten to fall slilent.

“They will be traveling together won’t they?” He asked looking right at the Oni who was looking down at his clip board with something like dread. “You will answer my question now.” He let as much authority as he could muster into his voice.

“Most of the time they will be together but six times they will be sent to separate worlds.” The Oni said with a shrug. “I’m not sure why but it is included in the paper work they will be separated on the third, sixth, ninth, twelfth, fifteenth and Eighteenth worlds.” He stepped back glancing at the two to see they were shocked. “We are running out of time so I must give them their equipment.” The Oni gestured and two watches appeared in front of them. “These will count down the four weeks until your departure from each world.” Dende watched as they put the watches on. “You’ll move from world to world automatically when the timer reachers zero.” The oni looked back at his watch. “Times up you’ll make the first trip momentarily.”

“Wait a minute what happens if we die in one of these worlds?” Trunks asked suddenly. “And is there anything we aren’t supposed to do in these worlds?” The oni didn’t answer as the two disappeared in a flash of light.

“I shall be leaving to file my report now.” The oni said with a casual glance over the edge of the look out. “I must say this assignment has been more trouble than I thought it would be and your interference will be noted in my report.”

“What happens if they die?” Dende asked ignoring the dig he didn’t care if his interference was noted in a report no one would ever read. He needed to know what would happen to them if they died and he also knew Goku and Vegeta would be noticing their sons vanished powers signatures soon enough. “Also why don’t you stick around and help me explain to their fathers what has happened?” He added as an afterthought knowing it wasn’t likely but it would give Vegeta another target for his rage.

“What happens if they die?” The Oni paused and then shrugged. “No idea it’s outside of my department.” The oni said cheerfully and then frowned as Goku appeared obviously worried. “As to your other request I simply don’t have the time I have several important reports to file.” The oni vanished as Goku turned a curious look on Dende.

“Goku, I will be happy to explain everything but let’s wait for Vegeta I will need your help to keep him calm.” He wasn’t sure anything could keep Vegeta from going ballistic but he had to try. He quietly summoned Popo from his room. “Mr. Popo if you would please collect Bulma and Chichi as they will need to hear this as well.”

The End.

Ten Worlds
Closing the Circle

“Welcome back to my world Kon El,” Kelex said as he appeared in the middle of his fortress. He took a moment to adjust the bag on his shoulder. “I trust that you have said your good byes to Cir El and the rest of the inhabitants of that Krypton.” He was going to miss them but he’d already said his good byes and now he was going to get some answers from Kelex. “You seem disturbed is something the matter?”

“Yeah something is the matter I’ve got two questions for you,” He was still angry about the cost of victory on Krypton and Kelex was a good target. “First what is your problem with Cassie and second why did you make my soul live through 320 life times in clone bodies on different worlds.”

“You already know the answer to the second one the Nightwing entity already told you that without it your soul would not have been strong enough for it to use you as an avatar.” Kelex said confirming what the Nightwing had told him. “I do hope you aren’t going to demand I return the physical memories to you since even as a Krytonian hybrid you couldn’t endure that many life times worth of memories.” He had already been told that by the Night wing. “Here a final gift.” Kelex said and he was surprised when several yellow crystals appeared and then exploded in a flash of light. “There now your great flaw is corrected.” He refused to rise to the bait and just waited silently. “The reason you have always suffered power failures when you exert yourself is because as a clone you didn’t have a child hood of absorbing solar energy like Kal El did I have just given you eighteen years worth of bio-converted solar energy.”

“You haven’t answered my question what do you have against Cassie,” He asked again. “I know it wasn’t Black Zero who had it in for her.” He had realized on Krypton with Cir El’s help that Kelex had been the mastermind of everything so the targeting of Cassie wasn’t Black Zero’s doing at all. He watched as the robot pulled up an image of Cassie and Luthor standing by a clone tank.

“My world was once your future in this world Cassie sold out everyone to Luthor to get you back after Spence killed you.” Kelex pointed at the screen. “So yes I emotionally tortured and manipulated her but it was not just vengeance it served a higher purpose in helping me create the circle which I will soon close.” Kelex then pointed toward a sphere. “After I send you home I will send that sphere back in time where it will tell my past self everything I have done and how to replicate it just as it did for me.”

He stared at Kelex as the full implication of that hit him. “You knew all along everything that happened all that talk about worlds changing it was all a smokescreen you planned all this?” The robot nodded and he felt himself losing control of his temper. “I should destroy that sphere and stop you.”

“Are you willing to consign Cir El back to limbo and assure the destruction of that Krypton and your own world?” He reluctantly shook his head. He couldn’t let all those people die just cause he was mad about being used. “Do not worry Kon El you will never see me again though some of my handy work remains on your world.”

“What does that mean?” He asked but Kelex just brought up images of five doubles of him. “I cloned you five times after a year had passed on your original world.” He felt like he’d been slapped as he stared at them. “Each of them has been altered slightly none of them are a perfect genetic match but they all shared your memories at the time of death and each has had a year to adjust to their new powers and abilities.” Kelex then showed images of Black Zero talking with Cassie, Tim, Clark and Kara. “I had Black Zero inform them after the clones were awake that you would be returning in one year’s time.” He was shocked for a second time he’d thought he’d only been gone a year not two.

“So why did you create them, what possible reason could you have for doing that?” He supposed he could have understood a single clone being created to screw with Cassie and the others but why five it made no sense.

“Because I have always done this I am as trapped by the circle as you are Kon El.” Kelex said and then brought up the image of one. “This one shall we say Kon Clone number one was a protoplasmic clone of you who chose to disappear immediately no one has seen it since then.” Kelex said and then the image changed. “Clone number two was far more human than you and was limited to Cir El level Kryptonian abilities; I should inform you that he now calls himself Ultraboy and is involved with Cassie.” He watched as images of the clone with brilliant green hair and Cassie clearly on a date showed up on the screen. “The third clone is closest to you genetically though he’s a straight Kryptonian human hybrid with none of the alterations that gave you your tk.” He saw images of that one on Hawaii with Tana. “The third clone calling himself Titan has made a home for himself with Tana Moon and they are also involved in a relationship.” He had expected them both to move on but with clones of himself was not how he expected it.

“Do you have to keep doing this?” He asked interrupting. “Can’t you just send me back to my world.” He really didn’t care to hear any more of Kelex’s explanations about the clones or who was dating who.

“I am afraid I have to finish this,” Kelex said sounding sad but he no longer believed the robot could really feel anything. “The fourth clone is a version of Doomsboy for your world.” He saw on the screen an exact double of him transforming into a smaller Doomsday. “He has joined the Titans and become quiet a hero he is the most popular of all four of the active clones with the public surprisingly.” He found that hard to believe but the images showed cheering fans for Doomsboy. “The final clone has no powers in his human form but like Superman could for a time he can become an energy being.” He saw a double of himself transformer. “You may notice his clothes have rearranged themselves into a black version of Superman’s white containment suit that is occurring because of his TK in the moment his power activates you could do it if you understood molecules enough to use your tk in that way.” Kelex seemed proud. “I simply made it an automatic reflex for him.” He had wondered about that but he had no plans to ask Kelex. “ He is less powerful than Superman was but his TK stays active and forms a containment field so he is in no danger if the suit rips.” Kelex then turned back toward him with a sad look. “There are other things I’ve left on your world but I never tell you about them aside from one final thing, Luthor is alive he was not killed by Spence but imprisoned he was freed by the authorities and he claimed a clone committed all his crimes.” That sounded like Luthor.

“Are you done?” He asked and saw Kelex nod. “I hope your happy Kelex with all the death and destruction you caused.” He adjusted the bag on his shoulder again and waited for Kelex to send him home he had nothing else to say to him.

“I am very happy thanks to my actions I have created three worlds my new Earth where human/Kryptonian hybrids live, a pure human colony and a pure kryptonian colony and after I close the circle I will create many more.” Kelex said and then there was a flash of light and he was standing in the middle of the Watch tower surrounded by the Justice league who looked startled and on high alert.

End Closing the Circle.

Notes: This is part of my seed verse and takes place the afternoon just Ghost Dad

The Gift

She sat awake in shock feeling a chill to and looked up to see the ghost seed Danny smiling at her. “Oh it woke you up sorry just one more to go.” He said holding up a venus fly trap that he turned intangible and shoved into her. She felt a stabbing pain as he pulled his hand back. “Was just adding some ghost vegetation to the squid your ghost seed was made from.” He smiled then, “They’ll slow down the maturation of your ghost seed while they are assimilated.”

She ignored him as she reached under her pillow for the wrist laser Danny had given her back at summer camp. She aimed at him but he smiled and held up a wrapped box. “Don’t you want your gift after all it will let you into the ghost zone to save the copy several days early.” She lowered the weapon as he tossed her the box. “I’ve had a change of heart and have decided you deserve the chance for a happy ending so if you can save him then I’ll leave him alone.”

She opened it and found a small metal box with a nozzle on it. “It hooks to the flying surf board that goes with the suit Mr. X gave you I lifted it from his lab its how he flies in and out of the ghost zone so much.” He then frowned. “Unfortunately I don’t have a spare battery so its only good for a few portals before it will be completely out of power.” He pointed at her clock. “I wouldn’t spend more than a few hours in there regardless cause the longer you are in the ghost zone the faster that seed inside you will grow even with what I did to slow it down.” He disappeared then and she was left staring at the device.

She almost took out her phone and called Danny but he was still grounded by his parents and she was sure he’d try to talk her into waiting till the Fenton portal was fixed. She headed to her closet and grabbed the suit she’d been given. She knew this was a bad idea she and Tucker had both sworn never to use these things but she had no choice. She pulled on the suit and tried to figure out how to get the surfboard out. As soon as she thought it popped out of her feet. She leaned down and tried to figure out where to attach the thing. As she was thinking about it slots opened in the board and she at it down where it connected with a click even though she hadn’t seen any prongs on it. She thought about opening a portal and the thing fired. She didn’t know how it worked but the suit did whatever she thought.

“Okay suit take me into the ghost zone and find that thermos,” She said aloud and then she was whisked into the ghost zone She looked around as she flew and saw off in the distance a strange distortion. She’d never seen before in all the times she’d come here. “Lets go see what that is,” She said to herself and soon she was standing in front of a ghost shield in the ghost zone.

She couldn’t believe there was a shield inside the ghost zone she looked threw it and thought she saw Skulker’s island. “Did you think I wouldn’t find out.” An angry voice said and suddenly she was grabbed by Mr. X. “Did you and Tucker Foley really think I wouldn’t find out you were stealing my equipment.” He fired a laser destroying her board and the portal generator. “Come with me girl your lucky I don’t leave you hear.”

She kept ordering the suit to shoot him or something but it ignored her beeping loudly in her ear every time she thought a command. “Don’t bother the suit can’t hurt me they were to protect you from Ghost Seed Danny not to use against me.” He fired a beam form his board that opened a portal and then they were out into the real world in Tucker’s bedroom. “Suit disengage.” The suit she was wearing folded back up into a backpack and he yanked if off her before throwing her onto the bed where Tucker was screaming like a little girl. “Now boy where’s the suit you used to sneak into my home hand it and the stolen technology over.”

“It’s right here,” Ghost Seed Danny said appearing and throwing the extra back pack to Mr. X. “I just borrowed it figuring if it worked for you that it would work for me.” He smiled darkly then. “After all your Fenton ghost detector based security doesn’t recognize a ghost in a ghost hunting suit.” He smiled and pulled out a remote. “Now that Sam is out of the ghost zone I can destroy your satellite.” He pushed a button even as Mr. X dived for him. “And there I just leveled most of the ghost zone that you all are familiar with can’t wait to see what they offer as a reward for me.” He smiled even darker.

“If you really did destroy my satellite then you’ll regret it.” Mr. X said as he stood up and multiple weapons extended from his suite. “I’ll make you pay for interfering in your creators plans little ghost seed.” She glanced at Tucker who was inching toward the door and joined him hoping they could get out before the fight started.”

“Drop the tough guy act little ghost or I tell everyone who you are and why you created us ghost seeds.” The ghost seed Danny said laughing. “I know all about you and your little game you’ll never be king of the ghost zone without the satellite but you can still pull off the other part.” He then shrugged. “Unless I kill what you need to accomplish it.”

“You wouldn’t.” Mr. X said clearly worried and kept the weapons trained on him. “No matter how much darkness was in that boy you wouldn’t murder someone just to stop me.” She felt sick as she realized that this Danny was threatening to kill someone.

“Try me little ghost and find out.” His smile was haunting as he said that. “Now take your stuff and go so my friends and I can have a little chat and if you leave right now I give you my word that I won’t tell them who you are or why you are doing this.” His smile went away. “I just want to tell them all about that satellite so they can go tell the Fenton’s all about it so they’ll know what to expect when they head into the ghost zone in a few days.” She watched as Mr. X put his weapons away and then turning intangible flew out threw the roof.

“He really is a ghost,” Tucker said staring after him. “So what’s this satellite?” Tucker asked as he stared over the ghost Seed Danny who was smiling at them. It was frightening how much he looked like that crazy Danny from the future.

“Oh that Mr. X there just took a trip to the future and copied the plans of Thaddeus Fenton’s ghost zone controlling satellite and came back in time and built it.” The ghost seed Danny said with a shrug. “According to the files in Mr. X’s lab it was built after Danny Phantom’s ghostly existence was ended by some ancient horror that woke up in the ghost zone.” He smiled again. “When it woke up a jewel was discovered in its lair that had the ecto energy output equal to that of the sun and with the satellite could be used to quarantine dangerous ghost in the ghost zone.” She remembered the ghost shield she’d seen. “Only problem was to tap the power the gem had to be cracked so when I blew up this version of the satellite the equivalent of a super nova went off in the middle of the areas of the ghost zone your familiar with.”

“Why would you do any of this?” She had to ask. “Why give me that portal generator and send me in there to see that then wreck everything?” She didn’t know what game he was playing but she had been used by him again.

“Cause it was fun and the idea of that pathetic waste as the new king of all ghost is laughable.” He said smiling. “Be seeing you both another time I’ve got places to go and plenty of things to do.” He disappeared then and she glanced over at Tucker who while she’d been talking had been inching toward a book case.

“What’s behind the book case?” She asked and he showed her that he’d hidden the wrist laser there. “You realize if you’d have blasted him he might have killed us both?” He blanched then and mumbled something about it not being one of his better plans. “I should get home before your parents wake up; I’m amazed they slept through you screaming earlier.” She guessed they were really deep sleepers which she was a bit jealous of her parents were and she had to sneak back in without getting caught without her key.

“You asked to see me,” She asked carefully as she entered what would only be described as a throne room where Brain Xavier Onslaught sat looking bored. “I have to say this room doesn’t fill me with confidence that we can trust you.”

“You mean the trappings of power where I rule as a king over the lowly mutant citizens of Genosha,” he said with a half smile. “Believe me it is all an act.” He said pushing a button on the throne and it slid out of the way. “It is for the benefit of those watching in the outside world so they don’t realize what we are actually doing here.” He motioned for her to follow him and they sat off down the stares that ended at a lift. “It is a long way down so I hope you aren’t claustrophobic?”

“I’m not,” She said as they climbed into the lift and it started moving down. “So why are you showing me all this?” She saw him look at her sadly and then she got it. “You can’t tell anyone else about this whatever your doing down here is a secret from the mutants on the surface of Genosha as well isn’t it?”

“Yes and no they knew at one time what was going on down here but after making their choice to stay on Genosha I erased the truth form their minds in case they were ever captured by Sentinels.” He said shaking his head. “Sooner or later Genosha will be destroyed and everyone who made the choice to stay will be stuck here for good.”

“Genosha isn’t the real last refuge is it?” She asked as the truth of that answer hit her. “You’ve got somewhere else somewhere the sentinels can never get to,” He nodded then. “Where is it is it Counter Earth?”

“No the sentinels arranged to destroy counter Earth early on during their conquest,” He said shaking his head sadly. “They didn’t trust a planet created by a mutant so they hurled several huge meteors into it destroying everything.” She could see how much it hurt him. “There were a few thousand mutant survivors though from the mutants who settled in the Counter Earth Attilan they fled into outer space and were picked up by the Shiar ship that was coming to answer my father’s distress call.”

“The Professor called in the shiar?” She was surprised by that since Lilandra had divorced him after the Cassandra Nova thing. “And they came to help?” She couldn’t believe that the Shiar would help at all.

“They offered limited aid they transported the city to a barren bearly habital world and left them there to start over,” He said and she could hear the anger in his voice. “They then handed us and them a pair of linked Stargates and that was it.” He snorted. “Since then every so often folks from Genosha are at random invited down here and allowed to know the truth about the true last sanctuary those that choose to go join it do so and are reported killed on secret missions for our cause.”

“How many mutants are on that world now?” She asked wondering if there was a world of mutants out there who could be brought back to save this world. “Are there enough to destroy the sentinels and save this world?”

“At last count there were just about three and a quarter million people on the planet a little over half of the number of surviving mutants on our world.” He said shaking his head. “The stargate can only handle transmitting a few dozen people and equipment at a time so we can’t reinforce our numbers enough to make a difference.” He then turned toward an area where the wall changed to a familiar yellow color. “Anyway the engineer wants to talk to you he’s the real person in charge of keeping us all alive.” He turned then and headed back up the stairs. “I just wanted you to know despite what you may see me do that I’m not a bad guy I’m playing the role I have to so some of our people can be saved.”

“That boy carries a terrible burden,” a voice said and she turned to see a form emerging from the wall. It was Forge only he was living machinery like Warlock or the phalanx. “It is good to see you again Rachel I had given up hope of you ever coming back even though she said you would.”

“She?” She asked and then she just knew. “Mother Askani,” she said and he nodded. “Why did you want to see me?” She was beginning to suspect that her past self as Mother Askani had a hand in everything that was happening to them.

“Because Genosha will fall on the last day you are here,” He said gravely. “Mother Askani has already shown me that so for the next thirty days I will be sending as many people as I can through the Stargate and will only destroy it at the last possible moment when the sentinel attack begins.” She was staring at him in shock. “Now Brain doesn’t have the time to stand here and help me deal with folks who wish to forget but you have nothing to do for now.”

“So your still giving folks the choice?” She asked shocked. “Why not just force them to go through?” She knew the answer immediately then. “That colony world hasn’t been made viable to support everyone there is limited space isn’t there?”

“Yes, with the benefit of mutant powers it is far more habitable than it was but it will be decades before we could send everyone through however I am sending along DNA samples from every man woman and child on Genosha so if they ever need fresh blood they can combine and mix those DNA samples in artificial wombs. “Once I destroy the stargate Brian will put the final strategy for saving this world into effect a massive EMP which will destroy every machine on the planet plunging the world back into the dark ages but taking the sentinels out for good.”

“That will kill millions of people,” She said and sensed from Forge a sad acceptance of that fate. “What if I refuse to help you?” She sensed a kind of weary sadness from him and an image of Nate appeared on screen. “So you’ll ask Nate to step in and do it then ?”

“Yes, only yourself, Brain and Nate Grey have the necessary power to accomplish this.” Forge looked sad. “Since you came from a world very similar to this one I hoped you would help me to save as many lives as possible.” That was a low blow but he was right.

“All right I’ll help.” She really didn’t want Nate to have to make this choice even though he came from a hell hole that was just as bad as the one she did he was still a bit more innocent than she was. “But you have to tell me everything Mother Askani said to you I want answers about why this is happening to us.”

“I will tell you everything I know,” Forge said. “I will send word for the first set of people to make the choice to come down.” She began to brace herself for making folks forget who wanted to stay and fight. She hated messing with people’s memories for any reason but she had to admit this was a good one if Brain failed to destroy all the sentinels they could never know some of the mutants escaped to start over on another world.

Ghost Dad
Part Two of Two

“It just isn’t fair,” Danny said loudly staring at where the ghostly duplicates of their father were helping repair the ghost portal. “I still can’t do that with any reliability and now the ghost seed in dad can do so.” She remembered how on the second night they’d found the ghost version of their dad playing rock paper scissors with himself and then mom had put him to work.

“Danny this is a good thing the work keeps him from causing trouble and we don’t have to hear him yelling to be let out.” She said quickly. “Plus the ghost portal should be working in a few days at the rate they are going so we can go try to save Ghost Danny.” She saw him frown but he didn’t comment. “You do want to save him for Sam’s sake at least she feels really guilty about things?”

“I wouldn’t know she’s avoided me ever since the whole ghost seed ghost incident.” He said still watching the multiple ghost versions of their dad work. She hadn’t known that she’d seen Sam a few times and been asked about the portal but she hadn’t realized Sam was avoiding Danny. “And Tucker absolutely refuses to talk about what the ghost seed ghost said to him.”

“Maybe that’s for the best Danny it might be something really personal.” She said as an explanation. “You said he claimed to spy on everyone the first two nights so he could really hurt them.” She didn’t know how much of the ghost seed ghost had really come form Danny’s own resentments but she did wonder. “Just give them time and once we manage to save Ghost Danny Sam will probably cheer up.”

“If we save him,” Danny said sounding unsure about. “The ghost zone is huge and even if we find the thermos I don’t know how long a ghost can stay in there safely.” She had asked her mother about that but her mom said they’d never done any test on the subject. “I don’t even know if he’ll want to come back after what the ghost seed ghost did to him.” He looked away then. “I really wish I could go back to before this whole event started and stop this ghost hunter before he started all this.”

“There isn’t any going back this time Danny,” She said and meant it. She wished he hadn’t the first time everything came out during that thing with Freakshow instead of making everyone forget. “I think Mom wants us,” she said pointing out their mother and Dani who were waving them over.

“I’ve got good news,” her mother said smiling. “I’ve gone over everything three times and Dani is completely stable there’s no danger of her falling apart again.” She was glad to hear that which meant now they just had to decide what to do with her. She was kind of hoping her parents would find some way to adopt her it would be nice to have a little sister.

Ghost Dad Part 1

“Dad it’s me Danny calm down,” He yelled as he dodged the blast his dad had sent at him. His powers had finally come back and his dad went ghost and attacked him on site. “Mom can you calm him down.” Suddenly he sensed another ghost and his dad was frozen falling to the ground a block of ice.

“He’s even stupider as a ghost isn’t he,” He turned to see the ghost seed ghost that came out of him floating down. His dad broke free then and shot toward the new arrival. “Hey fat idiot you’re a ghost seed ghost remember and that’s your son.” His dad stopped in mid air.

“Oh I complete forgot for a moment,” The ghost seed version of his dad said. “I’m going to go eat Fudge.” He shot off toward the kitchen. He looked over at his mom who looked appalled. “Maddie do we have any fudge?” he said popping back in.

“Even less impulse control than normal just like Mr. X predicted.” The ghost seed Danny said as he floated down beside him. “Now Daniel we need to talk before he remembers how dangerous I am.” He then dodged a blast from one his mother’s guns. “Now come on Maddie no need to pick a fight I’m just here to talk and give you the ghost seed information I stole from Mr. X.” He smiled then. “After all I’ve already given Vlad a copy and if you play nice I’ll even throw in Vlad’s cloning data so you make sure little Dani is really stable.” He looked over at his mother who lowered the gun.

“What do you want to talk about Ghost Seed,” His mother said still keeping her finger on the trigger. He could understand how on edge she was every time he looked at this ghost he saw that nightmare future again.

“Why don’t you just call me Dan it seems to fit,” the ghost seed ghost said looking over at him. “I just thought I’d tell you the order the ghost seeds are going to emerge in since I’m not sharing the estimated release dates with you.” He smiled a bit. “Paulina is next, then Sam and after that comes mommy.” He said pointing at his mother. “Following that is Valerie, Jazz, Dash and last but not least little Tucker Foley.” He then threw two small objets towards his mother. He nearly blasted them but she grabbed them before could. “There’s all the ghost seed information and Vlad’s clone data be seeing you since the idiot just remembered me.” He turned toward the kitchen. “Come get me Fatso.” He shot out of the house then followed by his screaming father.

“Danny go get your father.” His mother said worriedly. He nodded and took off after him. “Bring him back and we’ll put him in the ghost escape proof ..” He couldn’t hear the rest of her statement as he flew out into the night air but he knew what she meant. The containment area his dad stored the ghost his ecto-dejecto enlarged in.

“Come back here ghost,” He heard his dad yelling and it was followed by a scream. He caught up to see his dad getting blasted repeatedly by the ghost seed ghost. He fired a blast of his own at the ghost seed ghost who dodged. “Go get him Danny.” His dad said weakly as he floated toward the ground.

“OH come on Daniel deep down you’ve wanted to blast him yourself.” The ghost seed ghost said. “But you’ll never admit it so goodbye.” The ghost vanished then in a swirl of ectoplasm. He turned and dove down to help his dad up.

“Are you alright,” His dad nodded and then passed out shifting back to human form. He lifted his dad and took off toward the house. He didn’t know how they were going to stop that ghost seed ghost it seemed to know so much more than the rest of them. He headed straight into the basement and found his mother, sister and Dani by the computer. “Dad’s out cold but I think he’s okay.” He said as he sat him down on the table.

His mother and Jazz left the computer and headed over immediately to check on his dad He wasn’t sure what to do so he headed over to see Dani staring at the screen. He looked up to see it was a report on the ghost seeds used on her and how they were made from two ecto-pusses. “Do I even want to ask what was used on me?”

“Ghost Danny was a ghost wolf and Ghost Seed Danny was a ghost badger,” She said looking away from the screen. “Your mother looked up them first and then I asked to see mine just before you got back.”

“Easy Jack can you do me a favor and head in there for a moment.” His mother said drawing his attention back to his dad who was awake and once more a ghost. He wasn’t surprised that his dad happily walked into the room and was trapped. “There now we can get back what we were doing and your father can’t hurt himself.”

The Delivery

“So any luck finding Wild child or Strong guy with Cerebra?” She asked as Nate and Sam emerged from inside the school. She could tell instantly by their faces that they hadn’t which was worrying. “Do you think we are finally seeing the beginning of that trouble Maddie warned us about?”

“Probably,” Nate said clearly annoyed. “I mean first Strong guy disappears from the Arena and then Wild child goes missing on Genosha.” She could tell that they were worried otherwise they wouldn’t have come to the school to borrow Cerebra. “Perhaps Xavier should have come he’s got more experience with that pile of junk.”

“If someone with your power level couldn’t find them magnified by Cerebra then no one can find them,” Sam said putting his arm around the other man. “We will find out what’s going on soon enough we always do.”

She knew that he was leaving unspoken the question of it would be in time to help their missing comrades. She then felt a strange echo not with her telepathy but with her chronoskimming talent and began to follow it. “Nate do you feel that?” She asked never sure if Nate had the same temporal mutations she and Nathan possessed to different degrees.

“No what is it,” Nate asked as he and Sam both went on alert. She began to walk toward the source of the echo and they fell into step behind her. “I do sense that however,” Nate said pointing out where Gambit was chatting with Madox. “That isn’t the real Multiple man that is the dupe from Paris you had a fling with.” Nate said looking over at Sam. “He got a nasty shock when he saw you were here.”

“There’s a strange temporal echo coming from over there too we should go see what’s going on,” She said confident that between the three of them they could handle anything. When they arrived she sensed the nervousness of the rogue dupe as they got closer. However, then suddenly Iceman was there leading a dark haired man toward Gambit.

“Hey Gumbo, this guy says he’s got a delivery for you,” Bobby called and then the echo began to become a scream. She watched as he handed over the box to Gambit and knew she had to stop him from opening it. She started running forward hearing Nate and Sam speed up behind her but even as she watched Gambit opened the box and there was an explosion of light.

She opened her eyes to find herself in a shattered mausoleum with what felt like heavy metal bands on her wrist. She could immediately tell though they weren’t actually metal but instead solid temporal energy. “Don’t worry the bands will disappear and only reappear when it is time for you to move on,” A voice said.

Gambit seemed to recover his wits first and exclaimed loudly on seeing the speaker. “Witness, what is going on Lebeau?” She immediately saw the red on black eyes of the white haired stranger and got a sense of connection between the two but couldn’t pinpoint how.

“What the hell did you give me to deliver old man,” the dark haired man said angrily. “I mean I’m great ful you arranged to give me my original body back but no where did delivering a gift to Remy mean I was volunteering to be yanked from Westchester to where ever the hell we are?”

“You’re a few decades into the future,” The man that Gambit had called Witness said. “Why I grabbed the seven of you isn’t important what is going to happen to you is,” the old man said and she noticed for the first time that Sam, Nate, the dupe and Iceman had got brought along with her and the delivery guy. “Over the next seven months you’ll spend one month in each of the seven most likely futures of your own time line.” The old man then turned and started walking away. “If you survive you’ll make it back home if not you’ll die,” he said. “I wish I could have given you an easy future to deal with first but it had to be this hell hole.”

There were explosions then from out side and she turned instinctively toward the sound as did everyone else. She heard a curse from Gambit and looked back to see the man he called Witness was gone. “We should go see what that is,” Nate said heading toward the mausoleum’s door. She and the others followed along and ended up seeing a city burning as sentinels attacks. She felt her heart stop as she realized what kind of future this was a nightmare just like her world. “Someone is fighting back.” Nate said.

“That’s the area where the guild is based,” Gambit said but she was impressed he didn’t take off. “We need to get closer to see if there is any chance of helping.” She could tell even through the static generated by his powers how worried he was.

“Right, everyone keep low and stay together,” Sam said. “Rachel, Nate your our heavy hitters so stay at the rear cause if we get caught you might have to take off and rescue us later.” She was amused at how quickly Sam took over giving orders and how everyone fell in line. “Gambit this is your home show us the way?”

They slipped through the cemetery and ruined buildings carefully they were nearly there when Gambit motioned for them to stop. A blonde woman was leading the way of a small group of four people. The red haired man was holding an unconscious black teen girl, and the old black woman was hurrying them along. “Bella,” Gambit said stepping out and she saw them freeze in fear.

“You can’t be here your back there preparing to blow everything we tried to protect up to destroy the sentinels,” the blond woman said dropping into a stance to prepare to fight. She braced herself for a fight but the older black woman stepped into the way.

“Be at peace chile they are from the past,” She said quickly and the blonde relaxed. “We must get out of the city when his wife dies Remy is going to release the charge he’s been pumping into the ground for the last hour it will destroy everything.”

She saw the others start but Sam was looking over at a door frame. “Hey Nate, you remember what Lila gave us last week,” he said pointing at the door frame. “It is worth a try don’t you think?” Nate nodded and Sam went over to the door and stuck something in the key hole. There was a strange ping sound and then he opened the door. “Everyone inside now it worked.” She didn’t know what he was referring to but before they could even step toward it a Nimrod crashed through the wall and attacked.

She saw Gambit and Nate both go down as well as the red haired man who shielded the teen he was carrying with his body. She felt her rage exploded and she released every drop of strenght she had into the sentinel which exploded. “Rachel Get everyone inside now,” Sam yelled as she had been moving toward the robot wanting to make sure it was dead. She grabbed everyone with her TK and drug them through the door into what appeared to be something similar to Lila’s house. “Nate, hang on,” Sam was by Nate’s side after closing the door. “Hey House do you have medical fascilities.”

“Yes, however, my supply of medications includes many that has expired since no one has entered me since Lila Chaney presented me to you,” The house said and a door way opened showing a medical room. They quickly rushed the wounded into the room and the old black woman took over claiming to know quiet a bit about healing. She hoped Nate and Gambit would be all right even as she reflected on the horror of what was going on.

Comparisons

“Let me guess,” the older Kon El said as he landed behind him. “Bruce sent you to make sure I’m not a threat after I took out that Doomsday so easily.” He glanced back at him and smiled. “What I did to Doomsday in my world was more impressive but then I did it by accident there.”

“What did you do?” He asked curious Bruce had repeated the future Timothy Drake’s claims about what Kon El would grow into but this was the first time either them really believed them. “You took Doomsday down with a touch that is already very impressive.”

“Okay Clark I’m sure you heard about the time my younger self down there freaked out and took apart every gun in an entire city.” He nodded he’d heard about the incident. “Well I won’t bore you with details but Doomsday was rampaging around and my team was trying to stop him the JLA was off world at the time.” Kon El picked up a rock. “He got a hold of Tim and I panicked and my TK went wild and finished him off; it did this to him.” The rock he was holding exploded into a cloud of dust. “Residue of Doomsday covered more than a hundred square miles.” He knew he was staring down at the older Kon in shock but he couldn’t help himself. “He came back eventually,” Kon said shaking his head. “Some nut job decided Doomsday was the perfect weapon and used science to pull together enough of him for his regeneration to kick in and bring him back.”

“You really have become more powerful than me haven’t you?” He asked impressed at how powerful Kon El had actually become. “Bruce, thinks it means we should be careful about your younger self and watch him closer.”

“It couldn’t hurt, no offense Clark but you aren’t the best role model.” Kon said giving him a strange smile. “I know I freak you out cause I remind you of the fact you died.” He then laughed. “Believe me after I got to experience dying and coming back I got where I understood why you were always so standoffish.”

He took a moment to adjust to that fact. “You died and came back to life,” He asked and Kon El just nodded. “I guess it’s a family tradition.” He said shaking his head and saw Kon El smiling slightly. “Still I never would have imagined as a hybrid clone that you could become so powerful.”

“Well I was designed to be,” Kon said shaking his head. “Luthor altered his own DNA to be as close to Kryptonian as possible that’s probably why I developed all the powers but Jon and Lara down there didn’t” He glanced downward where his son and daughter from two different alternate worlds were talking quietly. “Of course like them I’ll always be inferior to you when it comes to metabolizing solar energy.” Kon said looking grim. “So even though I’ve got all the same powers as you plus my TK letting me do things you can’t dream of, there’s a limit to how long I can use my full strength.” Kon laughed a bit as he settled on the edge of the roof. “If I use my full strength for to long my body starts to eat itself and I can actually kill myself that way.”

“So the same thing could happen to Lara and Jon?” He asked still watching the future children he and Lois could potentially have. “They could kill themselves from pushing their bodies too far?” He glanced over at Kon El to see him shaking his head. “Your saying it can’t happen to them?”

“More likely that won’t happen,” Kon said with a smile. “Not to my son that showed up down there either.” He said as he stood up and lifted off the ground. “Though all of them are probably less effective than even I am at metabolizing solar energy their powers are scaled properly to what they can absorb so unless they really pushed I don’t think they’d experience what can happen to me.” He looked away. “I was created however as a weapon to hurt you.” Kon looked down at the kids. “It’s one reason why I tell Lara and Kara’s son not to compare themselves to me and why I stopped comparing myself to you and Luthor years ago.”

“I suppose that’s smart,” He looked away. “Are you sure this cousin of mine will arrive in a few months?” He asked thinking of the woman they’d been told had come to the past with them and was then gone. “I mean I didn’t think there were any other survivors from Krypton?”

“There are more than you can imagine and I wish you could remember so I could warn you about a lot of the crap that’s going to happen.” Kon El said shaking his head. “I plan to tell my younger self once he’s had time to get used to being a clone of you and Luthor but there’s only a infinitesimal chance he’ll remember.”

“Why don’t you tell me anyway I’ve managed to resist alterations in reality before,” He said and saw Kon frown. “Even if I forget it won’t hurt anything for you to tell me and see if I can remember it or not.”

“Yeah it would Clark,” Kon said shaking his head. “It could hurt you a lot for the time until Cassie vanishes.” He looked sad for a moment and then turned away. “I’ll make you a deal Clark when reality resets if you manage to remember the name Chris Kent then I’ll tell you everything.”

“Is Chris your son in your future,” He asked curious. “I know that you go by Connor in your world and I over heard Wonder boy telling his friends that his parents weren’t together in your world.” Kon looked startled by that question. “He’s not your son?”

“No he’s yours and Lois’s adopted son,” He said after a moment. “I don’t have any kids and most likely won’t since neither me or Tim are equipped to have them.” He was startled by that statement and knew he must have looked it because Kon El began to laugh. “I know it’s hard to believe considering what a skirt chaser my younger self is.” Kon sobered quickly. “I do wonder looking at him if I always swung both ways or if that’s just a side effect how the world was altered during the crisis.” He watched as Kon seemed to grow even more thoughtful. “I’d ask my younger self but he’s got enough to deal without learning who I’m involved with in my world.”

He was surprised but he could easily deal with it. It also made his statements about what happened with the other Doomsday make a great deal more sense. It was seeing Lois in danger in Metropolis that finally made him stop holding back against the monster and fighting to kill. He also knew that his world’s Bruce didn’t know or he’d be even more prejudiced against the future counterparts. “Does your world’s Bruce know?”

“Yeah,” Kon said laughing which was strange. “Telling him was a bitch though he kept going into some weird freaky bat denial where he refused to acknowledge it at all.” Kon was smiling. “It took Tim outing us in the Gotham Gazette with an interview about how Tim Wayne met and fell for Connor Kent a nobody from Smallville.” He was still smiling as he went on. “I have to admit he was really pissed afer the first time a reporter asked him how he felt about his adoptive son being involved with another man.”

That explained the future Tim’s last name then he hadn’t wanted to ask since he wasn’t sure it was a safe topic. “I can imagine,” He said, Bruce was his best friend but not the easier person to deal with especially when it came to anything he could see as endangering his people. “I suppose he threatened you with Kryptonite.”

“Once or twice, and he went back to calling me the clone for a long time.” Kon El said smiling. “It’s why I always refer to him as Bruce as it really irritates him that I am so free with the name without his permission.” That reminded him of the younger Kon El.

“I’ll refrain from mentioning it to Bruce when he asks how our talk went, Kon El,” he said and then saw the other man frowning at him. “What is it?” He wondered what he could ahve said then that offended the other man.

“Can you call me Connor,” Kon el said shaking his head. “I mean it’s not a big deal Kon El is my name too but over the years Connor Kent has come to be who I really am.” He then smirked. “Plus I keep seeing you picturing me as the punk kid down there when you call me Kon El.”

“I’ll make an effort, Connor,” He said and then an alarm began to sound. “What is it?” He asked as the other man began to lower himself down toward the courtyard. He followed along waiting for him to explain.

“The next breach is about to occur I might have to go pick up other arrivals form alternate worlds,” Connor said shaking his head. “If you want to tag along I’d be grateful for the help.”
He nodded a yes as they landed and approached the group standing around the future wonder woman.

Arrival in Paradise

She took a moment to appreciate the white sandy beaches as she strolled along looking for the bar where she was supposed to meet Richie. She had called ahead to make sure she could find him in this tourist trap that he’d chosen to live in. She felt a bit self conscious having so much more clothing on than everyone else but she wasn’t about to wander around without her sword. She preferred private beaches where she could keep her sword at hand near by without a nosey tourist finding it and raising a stink.

She finally arrived at the bar that was more of a shack with stools beside the beach. She felt another immortal then and turned to see Richie sitting there waving her over wearing a wet suit sitting next to a surf board. “Not that I don’t appreciate the view,” She said as she settled down taking in how tight the wetsuit was. “But I don’t think you could be hiding a sword in there.”

“No one will pick a fight on this beach too public,” Richie said under his breath. “And in my car I’ve got all the protection I need.” She personally thought he was being rather cocky but as she took another look around she realized he was right. This beach was so crowed with tourist that there was simply no privacy to pick a fight. “So why are you hear Amanda?”

“I came to get you to agree to come to Duncan’s welcome home party in a few weeks,” She said and saw his face fall. “Richie, Duncan is better he’s got a pair of new students and it would do him good to see you again.” She could tell he was still going to object so she decided to play one more card. “Joe wants you to come and unlike us he’s mortal Richie we don’t know how many years he’s got left one accident and he’s gone.”

“I’ll think about it but why don’t you come with me to my house where you can make yourself more comfortable,” he said looking at the suit case she had brought with her. He stood up carrying the surfboard with him. She followed actually grateful to get somewhere where she could loose a few layers of clothing. They were entering the parking lot heading toward what she assumed was Richie’s beat up SUV when she felt the presence of another immortal. She looked around and spotted him but he was waving to Richie who waved back nonchalantly. “Don’t worry that’s just Dallas a good friend.”

“Is his name actually Dallas,” She asked as Richie opened the back window and slid the surfboard into the back. She then handed over her suit case and Richie slid it through the opening as well. “And just out of curiosity how many immortals are on the island and are there any I should look out for?”

“There are four besides me who live here full time,” Richie said. “Most of them have no interest in the game so you don’t have to worry about a challenge from them it is mainly tourist immortals here on vacation who are the problem.” They got in the car then and Richie stopped talking while he navigated out of the busy parking lot. “Just last week I had to behead this tourist who wouldn’t take no for an answer on his challenge.” Richie sounded really annoyed. “I’m just glad Dallas helped me dump the body into an area where it shouldn’t be found.” He looked over at her with a smile. “Since a headless body turning up would be big news in such a tourist friendly place all us immortals here year round will help each other out when we have a body to dispose of.”

“I don’t know if I should find that touching or really creepy,” She said picturing the mixed bag of experiences she’d had helping folks hide a body. “So where exactly do you live?” They were heading into a more scenic area.

“It is up ahead was originally the site of a church that was wiped out by a fire and never rebuilt,” Richie said and she was liking the idea of staying at his house instead of a hotel even more holy ground was the safest place to stay. She took a quick look around at the neighbor hood and while it was comfortable it didn’t scream wealth just the sort of area she’d pick. “We might have company later another of those four immortals I mentioned likes to drop by in the evenings with his latest girlfriend of the moment and borrow my Jacuzzi.” He looked slightly indulgent. “Poor kid has only been immortal for a year now and his teacher never lets him have any fun at his mansion.”

“And his teacher has no problem with him hanging out at another immortals home?” She couldn’t think of many immortal who would allow that. She certainly never allowed her students to hang around with neighboring immortals unless he knew them very well.

“His teacher knows Mac and as I said all of us have to kind of help each other out so he’s fine with the kid coming over.” He seemed thoughtful for a moment. “You probably know him yourself Wakahisa Hideaki.” She flinched when Richie mentioned him.

“He’s on the island then it is best that I stay far away from his student.” She said seeing Richie smile he already knew about her history with the man the little brat. “You already know all about how he’s never forgiven me for stealing from him don’t you?”

“Yes, but don’t worry he’s currently out of the game since he promised his mortal wife no head hunting until after she has passed.” Richie said with a smile. “So he won’t come for your head unless you challenge him first.” He began to pull into the drive way of his home when the sensation of another immortal hit him. “Looks like Akoni might already be here.”

“He’s got a key to your house?” She asked and saw Richie shake his head. “Then how could he get inside?” He pointed behind his house to where there was a simple guest house. “He’s got a key to the guest house?”

“Yeah, in case the kid ever needs to take refuge on my house since its holy ground I gave him and the others a key to the guest house but no one gets in the main house without me being there.” She was still nervous walking towards the house. She had thought Richie had learned his lesson from his time dead but he seemed way to careless as they walked toward the house.

“Isn’t that a bit risky letting strangers have access to a key to part of your property?” She saw him smile then as if she was crazy. “It is a big deal showing that kind of trust Duncan doesn’t even give me a key to his house.”

“Because you just let yourself in whenever you feel like it,” Richie said with a laugh. “Most of the immortals on the island could pick the locks on my guest house in less than a second so it was just easier to give them a key.” He then pointed toward the guest house where a young dark haired Hawaiian was looking out the window nervously. “Besides that’s Akoni right there so I was right about who is here.” He then frowned. “Kid died at twenty one but looks younger than I am.” He looked over at her. “He’s going to have a hard time blending in I can only hang around for ten to fifteen years before I have to move on he’ll have to do it even quicker.”

“Looking young can also have some advantages.” She said speaking form her own oberservations and experience. “But getting back to another topic who’s the last immortal on the island you’ve mentioned your friend Dallas, Hideaki and Akoni but there’s one left.”

“That’s Mary but she’ll be leaving at the end of the month lived on the island for twenty years now so it’s time for her to pack up and leave for a couple of generations.” Richie said with a shrug. “She’s probably the least friendly on the island.” He then began to laugh. “Oh boy looks like Akoni took Dallas’ advice and broadened his horizons and now he’s embarassed.” She looked back at the guest house and saw the young man looking extremely embarrassed walking out with another young man who looked like a poster boy for a gay pride parade.

“Richie when you said you were meeting a friend I didn’t expect you to be back so soon.” The younger immortal said as his friend blatantly cruised Richie and then looked disappointed when he saw her. She threw her arm around Richie and smiled at the both of them. “I didn’t realize it was that kind of friend.”

“The two of you can join us if you like.” She said deciding this was going to be too much fun to pass up. “I’ll only watch if you don’t mind because while I certainly enjoy a good all male review my boyfriend wouldn’t approve me joining in.”

“Ignore Amanda she just has a warped sense of humor,” Richie said not missing a beat. “Don’t worry about things Akoni I’m heading in to get cleaned up and Amanda needs to unpack from her trip the two you can use the guest house as long as you want.” She watched as they made their excuses and left in a hurry. “Well come on Amanda I need to get out of this wetsuit and take a shower and then we can get something to eat.” She was beginning to think this was going to an eventful visit.

The End.

Ugly Truths
Part Two of Two

He opened his eyes and had to squint to block the sun. “Good morning Sunshine.” a voice said and he sat up in shock and turned to see a teen aged version of his evil future self. “I know I’m handsome maybe Vlad left something of himself behind or maybe future us was right and this is what we really are deep down.”

“You’re the ghost seed ghost,” He said and the double nodded. “Why didn’t anyone tell me I was going out as you at night.” The ghost laughed then and just shook its head. “They didn’t know did they?”

“Nope I was very careful so nothing would ruin my big final night.” He smiled in a frighteningly familiar way. “I got rid of the copy Danny by the way trapped him in a Fenton Thermos and threw him into the ghost zone.” His smile got even more twisted. “I also took Sam on a date and made it clear to her how she’d take any Danny Phantom no matter which of us three it was.” The ghostly double then began to lift off. “Oh and your parents know everything and I made Tucker, Dash and Paulina cry last night so my work here is done be seeing you.”

“Wait,” he called before the double could leave. “What did you do?” He felt a sense of dread at his parents finally knowing. “And why would you do all that?” He remembered what the ghost seeds were said to be but he didn’t believe it.

“I just told everyone the truth about themselves,” The ghost said darkly. “Just like you’ve always wanted to do deep down but then again there are so many things about yourself that you don’t know.” The ghost leaned toward him. “After all your kind of like your stupid dad in that respect you don’t delve deep unless you have to.” With that the miniature version of his future evil self took off from the roof and was gone.

He tried the door on the roof but it was locked so he was about to head down the fire escape when a voice called out. He turned to see Dani landing and she hugged him in surprise. “Are you okay he didn’t hurt you did he?” she asked clearly upset.

“I’m fine did he really tell my parents everything?” She nodded and he felt his stomach drop. He wasn’t looking forward to the conversation that would happen when he got home. “Can you fly us back there I don’t want them to worry.” As she was flying them back he thought of something. “He said Ghost Danny was trapped in the ghost zone.” She nodded so he asked the next quesiton. “Are Sam and Tucker alright did he hurt them?”

“Sam went home she said she wanted to be alone because of what happened with Ghost Danny and Tucker said he wants to be alone too because of what the ghost seed said to him.” Dani said sounding worried to be telling him. “Jazz said I should give them space and go find you it has been kind of weird with your parents knowing I’m your clone and wanting to run tests.” He could hear an edge of fear in her voice. He knew his parents wouldn’t intentionally hurt her but he’d been through some of their test when they thought he was losing his mind.

“Look if you want to take off for a while just drop me on the front porch,” he offered. He would like to have her there but it might be best if he faced his parents alone. He found himself sat down on the porch then.

“Thanks Danny tell everyone I’ll be back later I just need to think.” She said and flew off. He turned to the door and tried the handle. He found it locked so he knocked since he didn’t have his key.

“Danny your back, we were so worried about you,” his mother said as she opened the door and then dragged him inside and pulled him into a hug. “Why didn’t you tell us what was going on?” She asked once she finally let him go. He found he had no idea how to answer her question at all.

The End.

Ugly Truths
Part One of Two

“Did you enjoy our picnic?” Danny asked as he took a break from kissing her. She looked around the cemetery where he’d taken her for a picnic and smiled. “I’ll take that smile as a yes,” He said and kissed her again. She wished he wasn’t wearing the false human form with her. “What’s the matter want to be kissing the real me?” He said with a teasing tone. She nodded and as he kissed again she felt is lips turning to the slightly cool ghost form so she closed her eyes and just enjoyed it. She opened her eyes as he pulled back to see a face from her nightmares staring back at her. “Sorry Vlad left something behind when he possesed the human I’m inside of.” A young version of Danny’s future self said laughing as she pushed him away and scrambled back in horror.

“You’re the ghost seed inside Danny?” She said and he nodded as he stood up and walked over to the one of the grave stones and reached behind it to pull out the Fenton thermos before sitting down on the grave stone. “Why did you do that to me?”

“I wanted you and the copy to know the truth that your just in love with Danny Phantom it doesn’t matter which Danny Phantom any of the three of us will do.” He lifted up the thermos. “So copy did you enjoy listening to us on our romantic date I hope you heard everything.” She noticed the thermos looked slightly different. “Of course you did since I spent half my first night modifying this beauty so he could hear everything.”

“Let him go,” She said wondering how she was going to get the thermos away form him. She wished she hadn’t dumped the ghost hunting stuff Mr. X gave them into the attic and forgot all about it. “Please just let him go Danny.”

“All right but not here at Fenton Works.” He said and grabbed her with one arm and they were flying through the air. “You know I”m going to miss this place when I take off at Sunrise.” She was a bit freaked out then as it meant. “Oh you thought this was my second night nope the third one I spent last night spying on the folks I know so I could tell them all what I really thought about them tonight.” He smiled a horrible smile then. “Your diary was really interesting I quoted the passages from memory to copy Danny when I took his place waiting for you for our date.”

She felt like she was going to be sick and then they were phasing through the Fenton Works roof and down into the lab. She was dropped by the stairs as he continued to the ghost portal. “Okay Ghost Danny I’m letting you go into the ghost zone.” She could only scream as he threw the thermos into the portal and it vanished. “Now to make sure there won’t be any last minute rescues.” He reached up and hit the off switch turning off the portal. She watched afterwards as he tore the portal out of the wall and threw it into another wall.

“What is going on down here?” Jack Fenton yelled from the top of the stairs. She was so horror stricken that she couldn’t speak as he and Maddie Fenton both pulled out weapons. “There’s a ghost trashing the lab lets get it and dissect it.”

She was watching as the ghost seed Danny actually attacked his own parents and easily disarmed them. “You idiots would attack your own son you really are as stupid as Vlad always said.” Danny said darkly as he threw them across the room. “Oh hi Jazz why don’t you tell them who I am the ghost seed of.”

“Mom Dad stop he’s Danny,” Jazz said from where she’d appeared. She saw the Fenton’s staring at horror as the Ghost seed Danny laughed then. “Danny I don’t know what’s going on but you have to control yourself its not you it’s the ghost seed.”

“Actually it is all me I’m everything Danny boy keeps repressed,” the ghost seed Danny said. “Like how much he wants to ask how stupid are you two, accident with the ghost portal and days later Danny Phantom the ghost boy hero shows up who looks just like your son as a ghost.” He said to the two of them. “Jazz at least figured it out but you two are the worst parents in the world.” He then smiled at Jack. “ You especially you never even realized the Wisconsin Ghost was your friend Vlad and he wanted you dead so he could take your wife and son as his.” He said with a dark smile. “I mean he even cloned your son for crying out loud.” He spun and caught Danny who was diving at him. “Here she is your mutant clone son who turned out to be a daughter some how.” He threw her toward them. “Be seeing you I have lots to do before dawn.”

He disappeared and she sat silently as Jack and Maddie began to pepper Jazz with questions and Dani looked ready to bolt. She knew she should try to help explain things but she couldn’t look away from the ruined ghost portal. She didn’t think she’d ever see Ghost Danny again.
