The New Kid

“You know there is something really creepy about how everyone is buying this unknown kid story,” Tucker said as they watched Vlad Jr getting a seat at the popular table. “And what’s worse he’s automatically popular because he’s rich.”

“Just goes to show you what sheep people are,” Sam said as she looked over the table. “On the bright side the fact we are all out cast mean we won’t have to pretend to like him.” He wasn’t so sure about that he had no doubt that Vlad Jr would be making nice with them as part of the original Vlad’s sick plans. “Another good thing is if they’ll buy a clone as Vlad’s kid they will probably buy ghost Danny as your cousin.”

“Look lets just keep our heads down and get through school we can figure out what to do about him later.” He said quickly not sure which him he was referring to. His blond twin or the clone of Vlad who looked over at them and smirked. He really didn’t like that look. “I think he might be about to try something.” His ghost sense went off then and he was slammed into the table hard he heard other folks laughing and glared over at Vlad Jr.who smirked. The smug jerk had sent an invisible double over to push his face down.

“Danny don’t cause a scene,” Sam said warningly. “Just ignore him he’s trying to get you in trouble.” He knew that and he knew he shouldn’t but he didn’t care he grabbed what was left of his food and hurled it as hard as it could at the clone. He knew as the food fight erupted that he’d pay for it later because everyone would turn him into Lancer but he didn’t care. He was hit in the face with a soggy sloppy joe then and stumbled back wards knocking Sam over with. He could tell by her glare that he was going to get an earful later.

Anti-climax

“I must say Bertrand you did a marvelous job restoring my good looks,” she said as she looked at herself in the mirror. “I look just like my old self again no tentacles and you even got rid of that stupid little logo while leaving me all my power.” She could still feel the raw power her ghost cannibalism had given her. “Now what’s been going on while I was undergoing the treatment.”

“Mr. X took over the ghost zone and got defeated,” Bertrand said pulling up video of a double of Phantom’s nerdy friend in a pharaoh themed out fit holding a scepter. “He didn’t last long as ruler and was deposed and imprisoned in just a few hours.”

She stared at the video, watching as he was defeated and sealed away. “You mean after all his planning and manipulating he lost just like that?” Bertrand nodded and she couldn’t help but burst out laughing at the sheer hilarity of it. “I can’t believe Mr. X was such an anti climax, it almost makes me feel sorry for him.” She then smiled darkly. “So tell me Bertrand what should we do now that I’m feeling one hundred percent again.”

“I was thinking about that,” Bertrand said smiling. “We still have all this data I collected from Mr. X’s abandoned headquaters and lab so why don’t we find a way to put it to good use.” She found herself smiling at the thought of what she could do with that data and her new power.

“Oh yes Bertrand and we certainly won’t lose like he did.” She could already see what the future held for her now. “Oh this is going to be so very much fun Bertrand my dear.”

Notes: This is part of my seed verse and takes place a day or two after Saving Ghost Danny

New Look

She turned off the tv in disgust as she saw the news media continuing to buy Vlad’s claims about his long lost son Vlad Jr coming to stay with him here in the town he’d fallen in love with during his brief stint as mayor. She still couldn’t believe even after the constant scandal and failure that no one in the media was catching on to the fact the kid was a clone who hadn’t existed before all this. “You know there’s nothing you can do without revealing the truth about all of us.” A voice said and she turned to see a verison of her son wearing a black shirt with bleached hair. “Jazz helped, I figure this will make it easier to tell me apart from the real Danny.”

She still found his existence uncomfortable but now that he was flesh and blood in addition to being a ghost it was easier to deal with him. “It will.” She admitted and even though she knew it was her nerves making her ask the scientist in her really wanted to know. “Does it affect your ghost form’s appearance?”

“A little it doesn’t make my hair black but it does cause turn it more grey than white.” He glanced over at a the window as if looking at his refleciton. “Still have no idea what name to go by though it would be so much easier if I had a middle name.” He then smiled weakly. “What’s dad’s problem with Middle names anyway?”

“Your father believes they are bad luck,” she said having never really understood her husbands fear of middle names. “I suppose we could call you James after your late grand father.” He didn’t seem that interested so she changed the subject. “The bigger question is how we can pass you off as one of Danny’s cousins because even with the new hair color you look a great deal like him more than a cousin usually would.”

“I could always simply leave,” he volunteered. “There really isn’t much of a reason for me to stick around here and you’ve got family I could easily stay with.” She knew that was an option but she was reluctant to do so. “Of course then you’d have to fill them in on everything.”

“We have time there is no need to rush to any decision.” She said quickly she knew it would simplify things for him to be gone but as uncomfortable as he made her the thought of sending him away was worse. “In the mean time we need to figure out how to deal with Vlad, not to mention the fact that some of us still have ghost seeds inside us.” The fact the ghost behind them was gone was comforting but they still needed to be cautious.

Saving Ghost Danny

“Hurray up Daniel,” The ghost seed version of himself said from up ahead. “If we don’t make it to my lab in the next fifteen minutes even in life support mode Ghost Danny is history.” He poured on the speed and sped up. He knew they’d left Dani and his parents behind as they followed behind the two of them.

He could still remember the horror when they all woke up and learned form this ghost seed what he’d done to Ghost Danny. Then after he’d grabbed and trapped him in the folded up armor cube he’d said he could save him with his help. So here he was fallowing the pyschopath to his lab to save the copy who broke Sam’s heart. He really hated being the good guy some times. “How much further do we have to go?”

“Your in luck we are here,” The Ghost seed said diving down to what looked like an abandoned gas station in the middle of nowhere. “Just follow me through the roof.” He reluctantly did so and arrived in a high tech lab where a familiar pod sat on the wall. “Here we go with ten minutes to spare.” Ghost Seed Danny said shoving the cube into a slot by the pod. “Just stand on that circular pad over there and turn back human and then back to ghost and my machines will save his life.”

“Why do you need me to turn back to human and then back to ghost?” He asked as he looked at the pod there was a shape inside it that he could see threw the glass. He moved forward and then backed away in shock. “That’s me in there?”

“A brainless human clone of you actually.” The ghost seed said. “The only way to save him is to make him completely identical to you but I’m missing a mid morph scan just like Vlad.” The ghost seed smiled darkly and pointed at the pad. “Make up your mind Daniel if you don’t get on that pad now he’s going to die in a few minutes and while you’ll have Sam all to yourself, she probably won’t forgive you.” He wasn’t sure what to do when a red light began to flash. “Well that’s it then he’s entering critical say good bye to ghost Danny.” He reacted without thinking he jumped onto the platform and changed back to human and then immediately back to ghost.

The pod flared brilliantly and then cracked open and a naked double of himself collapsed. “What did you do to me?” He said staring at his hands. “Am I human again?” He looked over the socket in the wall to see the cube reading empty on its screen.

“Half human actually which means the test run works so its all been worth it.” The ghost seed said as he threw a robe to the no longer just a ghost Danny. “You should grab him original Danny this place is going to blow up now.” The ghost seed shot up threw the roof them. He didn’t hesitate he grabbed the other Danny who was only half in the robe and phased them out just seconds before the building blew up.

“Thank you,” the former Ghost Danny said as he sat him on the ground where he finished pulling the robe around himself. “I don’t know why he’d want to make me half human and what did he mean by test run?”

“I meant you were a test to make sure it was safe for me,” The ghost seed said lowering himself down. “You see even though I share his good looks unlike our evil future self I want to hang onto my humanity for as long as possible and the best way to do that is to be half human again.” The ghost seed smiled then. “So everything I’ve done has been to make that happen, stealing the data of Mr. X, Vlad and dear old Mom and dad.” He reached into a pocket that appeared and pulled out a huge wad of bills. “Stealing a few million dollars in seed money from Vlad to pay for the experts to study the data and make it happen.” He then shrugged. “And finally arranging a situation where I could perform this test to get half the data I need to do it for myself.” He shrugged. “When I combine the data that was transferred out before the explosion with the data I copied from Vlad where he created his new son; well everything will be perfect for me next time you two see me I’ll be flesh and blood too.”

“What do you mean Vlad’s new son?” He and Ghost Danny said in unison. He was a bit creeped out but he could understand both of them seizing onto that bit of information. He heard a sound in the distance that sounded like his parents and Dani might be arriving soon.

“Oh I suggested if he really wanted a half ghost son why not just clone a younger version of himself instead of fighting to get a mid morph sample of you.” The ghost seed said with a laugh. “I’m sure that twisted fruit cake will find some way to make it all about you and your mother but he took my advice.” The ghost seed smiled. “I didn’t even really ask him for help he was too busy preparing to enroll him in your school.” He looked upwards then. “I just wish I hadn’t had to do it but since I’m mostly you with a bit of Vlad thrown in to truly become half human I need a human body that’s mostly you with a bit of Vlad thrown in.” He vanished then even as he and Ghost Danny where shuttering in unison.

The Fall of the King

“There is no way your going into the ghost world to fight that monster Young man,” Maddie Fenton said to the real Danny as they all stood around trying to decide what to do. He knew he should just take off on his own but every time he moved toward the portal he got a death glare from Jazz and Sam. “We will prepare and when he comes out here then we’ll...” She trailed off and collapsed. He looked around and saw everyone else falling as well.

“Sorry about that brother but this is a conversation just for us two ghost.” Ghost Seed Danny said as he lowered down. “Vlad refuses to help unless Maddie agrees to leave Jack and marry him.” He said with a snort. “That means the only way to defeat Mr. X is to use my back up plan that is just for you.”

“I’m not helping you,” He said as he bent down and checked to make sure everyone was still breathing. “You could have stopped all this from happening but instead you kept quiet about who he was and what he wanted.” All of this could have been avoided and if the ghost zone really was being taken over right now it was all this ghost Seed Danny’s fault.

“Sure I could have by killing Tucker,” The ghost seed Danny said. “The seed inside Tucker would have eventually killed him if Mr. X didn’t fuse with it that’s why I let it happen.” He followed the Ghost Seed’s line of site to see him staring at Tucker. “He’s an annoying nerd but I’m still found of him.” The ghost seed pulled out a box. “This armor is your ticket to victory it can boost your powers a hundred times just like the old Exo-suit.”

“What’s the catch?” He asked cautiously. “I mean there has to be a catch you’d use it yourself if there weren’t any draw backs?” He saw the ghost seed smile and then he knew. “It will kill me won’t it?”

“Yes, the boosting process causes fatal instability that will cause you to destabilize twenty minutes after you first activate it.” The ghost seed said tossing him the box. “Just push the button to activate it and by the way some advice on how to beat him once you get that scepter away from him use it to put him to sleep in a sarcophagus for a few thousand years unless you’d rather kill him.” The ghost seed smile darkly. “Then you can fix the ghost zone from all the damage I did to it and bring the scepter back here where I’ll be happy to take possession of it.”

He wasn’t about to let that monster get the scepter but the sleep coffin was a good suggestion. “Will you be coming with me into the ghost zone?” He asked not sure he wanted this monster near him but he didn’t want to leave him here.

“I’m wanted by the Observents, so no, I’ll be staying in this world where I’m safe from them.” The ghost seed version of him took off then flying away threw the ceiling.
He looked over at his family and friends he would miss them even the real Danny but he wasn’t stupid there wasn’t any other way. He took off into the ghost zone and it didn’t take long to find Mr. X he was sitting on a throne as Pyramids were being built in the ghost zone. “Well lets see what this armor can do.” He pushed the button the cube and found himself wrapped in armor that looked straight out of his old Doomed game.

He felt stronger than he’d ever felt before even his memories of the Exo-suit paled in comparison to this. He saw them then the summoned army of Egyptian style ghost heading toward him and just let loose. He was amazed at how quickly they were destroyed. He saw two giant Sphynx heading for him so he let go with a ghostly wail that unlike last time destroyed them and most of the surrounding area. “No, This is impossible I made sure I was the strongest ghost possible there is no way you can have such power.” Mr. X said sounding terrified. “There is no way you can have gained that much power without killing yourself.”

“Stopping you is worth dying I think since you plan to take over the world.” He said to Mr. X as he made it to him and tore the staff out of his hands. “I think you should go to sleep now.” He just thought it and the scepter bowing to his insane power levels made it happen as the casket closed around him he hard Mr. X screaming. He simply wished him asleep and there was nothing but silence. “I’m sending you to the Observents so they can decide what to do with you.” He then looked around at the devastation. “Fix this.” he said and instantly the ghost zone was restored as if none of the recent troubles had ever happened. “Incredible anything I think just happens.” He realized then he could use the scepter to save himself to keep this power and that scared him. “Can’t let anyone else get this.” So he made a final wish and the scepter exploded into fragments.

“Ghost Danny you saved us all,” Green Dani yelled as she and Ghost Jack flew towards him. He hadn’t seen them at all during that brief battle. “I can’t believe how easily you beat him he stood up to everything the other ghost who fought him threw at him.”

“It wasn’t that easy.” He said thinking about the fact he was dying now. “I have to go now Dani, Jack and I won’t be back this suit that gave me this power is killing me.” He saw the horror in their eyes. “There might be something that can save me back in the real world but I have to get to it if I don’t I just want to say goodbye.” He saw how sad they were but he didn’t have time. He took off back toward the real world he had to get back to the lab and find the ecto dejecto it should stabilize him like it did Dani that time.

He could feel something beginning to happen the surge in power he’d experienced was beginning to fade and fade quickly. He could bearly keep his speed up as he emerged from the portal and collapsed to his knees. He saw the others staring at him in shock. “I need...” he tried to say but then pain wracked his body and he felt himself starting to melt.

“It wouldn’t save you but fortunately I can,” Ghost Seed Danny said coming from somewhere behind him. “Goodnight.” He grabbed his arm and hit a hidden button on the glove and everything went dark.

Times Up

“Wake up Tucker,” a voice said as he was shaken awake. “Good I thought for a moment Skulker might have damaged you when he attacked you.” He remembered then he’d been at school with Danny when Skulker had attacked him saying there was a price on his head. “I’m sorry for knocking you out but I couldn’t leave you there the Observents want you dead to foil my plans.” Mr. X said leaning over him. “I need you awake for this so the process can work properly.”

“Wait a minute why would they want me dead?” He was strapped to a table with a big lazer thing pointing at him. “And what are you doing to do with me what kind of plans do you have for me?” He watched as Mr. X pulled back the hood to reveal a monstrous green version of his own face. “Your me?”

“Yes the part of you given ghost powers by a jealous wish.” Mr. X said leaning over. “I am the only shade she created that lived to become a normal ghost and I am determined to be the next Ghost King.” He smiled then. “I have studied every ghost seed preparing to complete the seed I stuck in you and merge with it to create the most powerful ghost possible.” He pointed at the lazer. “Unfortunately someone tipped off the Observants to my plans and they have decided you must die so that I cannot become unstoppable.” He hit a button then and the laser began to glow. “So while I would like to wait for the final ghost seeds I have run out of time I must be reborn now.”

“Come on you should wait after all proper beta testing is the key to a good...” He didn’t get to finish as the beam blasted him and he couldn’t do anything but scream. He saw the ghost pulling off the ghost hunting suit then and turning see through. He then lept inside of him and he could feel the guy squirming around as his life flashed before his eyes. He passed out then and woke up some time later to see himself with green skin dressed as a Pharoah standing over him.

“As thanks for supplying me with the power to use this,” He said raising the scepter. “As a reward I will let you live.” He was released then. “Now go I have a ghost zone to conquer and once it is mine I will return to conquer this world as well.” The ghostly Pharaoh version of himself dove into the ghost zone portal then that was in the room.

“You should go let the Fenton’s know what’s happened.” A voice said and he turned to see Ghost Seed Danny standing there. “They are going to need to suit up cause if he manages to conquer the ghost zone there will be no stopping him.” The ghost seed Danny smiled. “I’ll be back I’m going to recruit Vlad to this little party we will need him trust me.”

He watched the ghost seed Danny vanish then and he was left alone in the creepy lab. He hurried to find the exit and needing to tell Danny how much trouble they were in. He really wished he’d never made that wish when he was jealous.

The Return
Part 1 of 3

The longer he was in the ghost zone the easier it became to focus. He knew that when he’d been merged with Jack he’d flitted from one impulse to the next and that it had slowed down once they separated but here helping the ghost seed ghost attempt to rebuild their town while searching for the ghost copy of Danny Phantom his mind was clearer than it had ever been. He understood the original Jack so well but he was glad he was changing. He didn’t want to be that flighty and while he respected how much the man loved his family and hoped he could make one of his own with Ghost Maddie and Ghost Jazz when they arrived he didn’t want to be that clueless. “There’s your store fixed Mrs. Buncombe,” he told the elderly ghost woman whose corner store he’d helped repair.

“Hey Jack,” Dani called as she dropped down. “You need to come quick its Ghost Danny he’s finally back.” She was extremely excited. “Maybe if you come with me he’ll stay here in the ghost zone with us.” She took off so he followed after her. He’d liked the idea of him staying with him and Dani and joining the family they seemed to be forming. “There he is.” She said pointing to the young ghost looking around with a scowl. “Your back.” She said flying in and hugging him.

“Green Dani your alive,” he said and smiled weakly. “I’m glad.” He then looked over at him. “So Jack’s ghost seed finally activated.” He could tell this Danny was wary around him. He watched as the boy went back to looking around. “Is the Fenton portal working so I can get back or do I need to go use Vlad’s.”

“Your still going back?” Dani said clearly upset. “Even after everything that happened?” She looked really distraught. “There’s a Sam here now you don’t need to go back you can date Ghost Sam.” He doubted this Danny would like the crazy Eco-terrorist version of Sam that was currently building a huge garden in the ghost zone and talking about returning to save Mother Earth.

“I may not be staying in the real world but I need to settle things and wait till this whole mess with the ghost seeds is over.” He said in a harsh tone. “Even if I come back I probably won’t stay in the ghost Amity Park if I come back I’ll make a clean break and find my own home but you can come visit.”

“I guess that’s better than nothing,” Dani said and then turned toward him. “I’m going home Jack you can show him to the portal.” She took off then and he knew she was upset. He understood she was the part of the real Dani that wanted a home a family.

“The portal is this way,” He said and took off the boy followed after him. “Are you really going to come back or were you just saying that to Dani?” He wasn’t sure what answer the boy would give him he seemed determined but there was a dark edge and the silence was getting to him. “We need to go around this island up ahead Ghost Sam is very protective of her plants.” He realized that it was too much to hope that she wouldn’t see them as Ghost Sam flew up to greet them.

“Danny your back you can join me here on my new Paradise and help me plan to save Mother Earth.” He wasn’t sure how they were going to avoid a fight. She had mellowed some what since separating from Sam but she still seemed volatile.

“Go back to your garden Sam.” Ghost Danny said in a tone that made it clear he wasn’t going with her. He braced himself or a fight that he really didn’t want to have because she was stronger than him. “I’m not kidding.” He said and his eyes turned an icy blue and the temperature dropped.

“I won’t forget this,” The ghost Sam said and dove back to her Garden. He was relieved they hadn’t ended up in a fight but he was getting more wary about the boy. They flew on silently and arrived at the portal.

“Before I go threw tell me everything that has happened.” The boy said with a frown so he did. He laid out everything that he’d been told by the real Danny when he’d come to check on how their search was going. “I don’t know if I’ll be back but take care of Green Dani she needs a dad.” Ghost Danny dived threw the portal then leaving him staring at it all alone.

The Return
Part 2

He slid through the roof of Sam’s room. He had turned invisible as soon as he existed the Fenton Portal. He needed to talk to Sam first and he didn’t want an audience. He was relieved when he made it out without running into the real Danny Fenton or Dani as their ghost sense would have detected him even if he was invisible.

He flew straight to Sam’s even though a small part of him just wanted to skip what he knew wasn’t going to be a pleasant experience. He made his way into her room not surprised to see her sitting on her bed writing in her dairy. He did his best not think about the things he knew thanks to the other ghost seed ghost reading to him from that dairy. “Sam,” He said making himself visible. “It is good to see you gain.” He watched her eyes widen as she seemed to get it. “I’m sorry it took me so long to make my way out of the ghost zone.”

She looked elated for a moment and then guard. “How do I know you are really Ghost Danny and not just that ghost seed ghost playing games again.” He should have seen that coming. “Tell me something that only Ghost Danny would know but that I didn’t write in my dairy.”

“He only read parts of your dairy to me Sam I don’t know what you left out give me a starting point.” He asked which seemed to surprise her. “Just pick a moment and I’ll do my best to remember it or tell you if he read it to me.”

She seemed lost in thought for a moment. “When you were reluctant to get involved with me what was the reason you gave?” She looked grim. “All I wrote in my dairy was that it was a stupid reason and you were a real butt hole about things.”

“I told you that I loved you and that was why I couldn’t stay because some day Danny would grow up and admit how he felt and it wasn’t fair to him or me to be here when that happened.” She smiled then and hugged him before going for a kiss. He pulled back away from her before she could kiss him. “No way Sam, we aren’t going down that road again.” He saw her start. “I didn’t come back to be with you I came back to let you know I was alive and to help the real Danny deal with the ghost seeds and Mr. X and then I am gone for good.”

“Why is it because of the things he read to you from my dairy?” She asked looking heartbroken. “I admit I was a bit conflicted when we started dating but I got over it I love you and I choose you.” She looked seconds away from begging.

“It isn’t about your dairy, I’m a ghost you’re a human it won’t work now or ever Green Dani was right about that.” He floated up to the roof. “I just wanted to talk to you about this first before I go deal with the mess that is the real Danny Fenton and his family.” He could see the tears she was struggling to hold back. “I’m sorry Sam good bye.” He dove through the roof turning invisible again feeling like a giant ass but it was necessary.

Part 3

“Ghost Jack confirms that it really is Ghost Danny,” Dani said as she returned form checking in with the ghost seed ghost that came out of Jack. She looked over at the ghostly version of Danny that didn’t look like he wanted to be here at all. “He was surprised that it took us so long to come asks though?”

“He didn’t know I was going to see Sam first,” The Ghost copy of her son said with a shrug. She knew that tone so well it was the tone Danny used when he didn’t want to really talk about something and was hoping they’d just go away. She again felt guilty for how often they had just gone away which led to them not even really knowing their own son.

“What took you so long to come back?” Jazz asked before anyone else could. “Danny, Mom and Dad found the broken thermos over two weeks ago.” She had wondered about that herself and even considered that the missing ghost clone could have been killed.

“I remember being torn from the thermos and drug behind the shock wave.” The ghost copy said with a frown. “After what seemed like ages the wave dissipated enough to break free and I stopped to rest in a part of the ghost zone I’d never seen before.” He looked away then. “Once I was strong enough to start heading back I did but it took several days of flying before I got back to anywhere I recognized and even then I was shocked at how messed up everything was.” The copy looked back at them. “I probably could have made it back faster if I’d pushed but I had a lot to think about.” He looked around then. “If You’ll excuse me I’m tired and we can finish this another time.” He turned invisible then and took off.

“Don’t go after him Danny,” She said quickly seeing her son was about to take off after him. “I know we don’t know the whole story but just leave him be for now.” He looked for a moment like he was going to disobey her. “Why don’t you go call Sam and see how she’s taking things?” That got his attention and he nodded walking up the stairs.

A Glimmer of Good

She sat looking over the latest test results. She looked up briefly at the screen to make sure Sam’s parents hadn’t let her out of the containment cell. After the news broad cast of their ghost daughter battling another girl ghost over Danny they’d had to reveal the fact their daughter was possessed by a ghost seed. She was amazed that so far this was the only time a ghost seed ghost had caused mass chaos and destruction. “Mind if I join you,” Danny’s voice asked but she knew it wasn’t Danny. She knew exactly where he was so she looked up not surprised to see the ghost seed back.

“So what are you going to do now,” She asked as she reached under her desk and put her finger on the button for the silent alarm that would alert Jack and the kids. “Haven’t you caused enough trouble after setting Ghost Sam free and arranging that fight with Ghost Paulina over Danny.”

“I’m here to help actually.” He said throwing a folder on her desk she was startled enough not to push the button. “There’s a complete fictional history for Dani that’s already been inserted into all the relevant government databases.” He said with a shrug. “She’s now officially Danny’s third cousin and since her parents are deceased she’s been sent to live with her only living adult relatives you and Jack.” He smiled then. “You can give her the home she’s always wanted and enroll her in school.”

“No tricks no us sending her to school and then revealing to the world the whole truth?” She was terrified that he’d decide to tell the entire world everything. She could only imagine the chaos that would result if the world knew everything.

“Nope, oh I’ve got plans none of you would approve of but nothing like that.” He said with a chuckle. “I’m made from your son I’m not completely evil.” He said and then was gone just as quickly. She opened the folder and began to read. It appeared that he had been telling the truth. She’d have to make some phone calls and discreetly make sure it wasn’t a trap before they used any of this but who knows perhaps there is a bit of good in him after all.

Girl Fight

“This isn’t a good time,” he said as he dodged the blast from Valerie when she showed up out of no where. “I have to catch up with that ghost seed ghost before it wrecks the town.” The explosion in the distance made it clear that Sam had made it to the auto dealership. He still had no idea how she’d escaped the containment pod they’d rigged up in her house for her to use so her parents wouldn’t find out.

“Are you Danny Fenton yes or no?” Valerie demanded as she aimed another blast at him. His shock must have shown cause she dropped the gun. “You really are Danny Fenton he wasn’t lying.” He was still staring in shock when Valerie was blasted away from him.

“Ghost boy I found you,” Ghost Paulina said as she tacked him. “Come lets go on another date.” She said and he began to feel woozy. Just what he needed to end up back under her love spell while Valerie knew who he really was.

“Back off he’s mine,” Sam yelled and blasted her away from him.. He looked back to see her standing there a yellowish green skinned version of herself from when she was under Undergrowth’s control. He was still shaking off the after effects when Paulina retaliated and they began to fight in the middle of town.

“Valerie, Danny just in time to enjoy the show,” The ghost seed Danny said as he arrived. “I let Sam out then told Paulina where to find you so pull up a chair lets watch the cat fight.” He sat back on a chair shaped out of ecto energy.

“Truce,” He said to Valerie as she headed over. She nodded and he pointed at the fighting girls. “Keep those two from wrecking the city it’s time I dealt with my ghost seed ghost once and for all.” She nodded and took off.

“So much for the show,” The ghost seed Danny said and took off flying into the air. He followed after him and tried to blast him but he shielded himself. “You really should go help Valerie out she’s no a match for Psycho Mother Nature Sam.” He ignored him and kept trying to blast him. “Your really angry and I get that but you should look back at the girl fight it’s a good show its even attracting the media.” The ghost seed ghost then split into three and two of them grabbed him and spun him around. “See I think your going to have to come up with something to tell Sam’s folks cause no way they won’t recognize their baby girl.”

He blasted himself free and let loose with a ghostly wail that made the two doubles vanish and sent the ghost seed ghost flying away. He looked back down and saw Ghost Paulina fleeing and Ghost Sam having Valerie pinned. He flew down and even though he hated to do it blasted Sam as hard as he could knocking her off Valerie. “You traitor I will make you pay.” Sam yelled looking at him darkly. “The Earth itself will punish you.” She waved her hand and vines wrapped around him and Valerie. Then seconds later she was frozen.

“You can thank me another time.” The ghost seed Danny said looking tired. “That wail of ours really hurts next time I’ll use it on your so you can feel it.” The ghost vanished then and he was forced to drag the frozen Sam away as the Media swarmed them. He saw Valerie flying away and he wondered what the consequences of her knowing who he was would be.

Identity Revealed

“Trying to catch the happy couple?” A familiar voice said and she spun to see Danny Phantom but he looked different. He had blue skin and flaming blue hair. “Oh taking in the new look don’t worry I’m not either of the Danny Phantoms you know.” He said with a smile. “I’m the ghost seed that was put into the human Danny after the copy was made.”

She considered using attacking him but something about the way he was smiling gave her pause. “What do you want I need to find the other Phantom and the Ghost Seed of Paulina.” She’d had to head out in search of them once she’d seen them on the news.

“Oh the ghost seed of Paulina fled after Danielle drove her off and freed the real Danny Phantom form her love spell.” He said with a shrug. “So since they were back with their human family I decided it was time we had a little chat because there’s something I’ve been dying to tell you.”

She didn’t know why but something about the way he was still smiling unnerved her so she took a defensive stance. “Well tell me and then get out of here ghost unless you want to get blasted into next week.”

“You’re an idiot you know that Valerie Danny Fenton, Danny Phantom they even look almost exactly alike never see one with the other.” She was staring at him in horror he was actually implying Danny Fenton was the ghost boy. “The real Danny figured out your identity from the beginning and was going to give up being a hero for you during that whole disaster of a flirtation you two had.” She couldn’t believe Danny was the ghost boy it just didn’t make sense. “Oh good grief your really in denial meet me down town tomorrow night and everything will be proven to you.” He vanished then in a swirl of ecto-plasm leaving her standing there.

“Guys you should come take a look a this,” It was Jazz calling form the other room where she was watching the news. She looked over at Jack who nodded and they headed into the room. She hoped Dani would be back soon since Danny was still grounded the girl had been doing brief sweeps for ghosts at night. She looked over at Danny who followed with a slight smile on his face. He’d been extremely helpful for her and Jack tonight she thought they might finally be getting back on the right track.

As they walked into the room Jazz pointed at the screen on the tv. “Ghost Danny is back and on a date with Paulina’s ghost seed.” She said excitedly. She looked past her daughter to see the press talking about the ghost boy and some ghost girl on a whirlwind romantic tour.

“That’s not Ghost Danny its your son he saw Paulina fly by and went to try to control her and got zapped by her love spell power.” Danny said and she felt a moment of terror as she looked back and he changed into the ghost seed Danny. “I just thought I’d spend a little time with my family without all the drama.” He shrugged. “Don’t worry about Danny the little girl clone is chasing after them trying to snap him out of it she’ll most likely succeed any minute now.” She was worried about her son but she had to deal with this monster first.

“Why do you keep doing stuff like this?” Jazz said before she could. “Why do you keep tormenting everyone for no better reason than because you can?” She could understand how angry Jazz was.

“Maybe I’m just paying you all back for treating me like a monster despite being just as much as part of Danny as Ghost Danny is.” He said and then smiled. “Or maybe I’m just bored since tomorrow night is going to be the big show when Sam’s ghost seed activates I’m expecting one hell of a cat fight over the real Danny.” She wasn’t sure how to respond to that statement it was disturbing on several levels. He floated up into mid air and crossed his legs. “Anyone have any other interesting questions I’m in a friendly mood I might even answer them.”

“Who was Thaddeus Fenton,” Jack said surprising her. “You told Sam about a Thaddeus Fenton designing the satellite you destroyed.” She had nearly forgotten that. “Was he our grand son?” She realized then what was worrying Jack the other thing he’d told them why it had been built the death of their son.

“Oh no he’s your great grand son’s great grand son,” the ghost seed Danny said with a shrug. “Danny Phantom is virtually immortal even after the Danny Fenton part of him dies the Phantom part will live on unless something destroys him.” The ghost seed Danny then pointed at himself. “Ghost don’t die from old age they die form losing the will to live or getting destroyed by someone or something.” He then smiled and she realized he was going to say something hurtful again. “Thaddeus isn’t a blood relative of yours since Danny is shooting blanks his human half makes having children with a ghost impossible and his ghost half makes having children with a human impossible.” He shrugged. “He and Sam had to explore other options for a kid in that future that no longer exists.”

“Are you sure that future no longer exist?” She asked before anyone else spoke. She knew from Danny’s stories that the future could be changed as well as the past but she didn’t want to dwell on it. She also needed to arrange for some testing for her son to see if he really was incapable of having children. She asked because the idea of her future grand children ceasing to exist scared her.

“Well as far as we are concerned it does it’s the future that got replaced by the one with Danny turning into the guy a lot like me.” He said with a smile. “What the future is now is anyone’s guess as to what happens to the old futures you’d have to go ask Clockwork about that.” He paused then and looked up as her son and Danielle arrived. “Look here comes Danny and Dani so she got him away form the other ghost.” He started to fade out then. “Be seeing you around Mom, Dad, and Jazz.” He was gone then leaving them all staring at where he’d been.

The Search

“Mom, Dad I can do this on my own I’ve been in the ghost zone plenty of times,” Danny said as he tried to convince them to stay back at the Fenton Works again. “I mean I’ll have Ghost Dad with me?” He said pointing out the Ghostly Version of Jack that was still hanging around and more than happy to let them perform experiments on him.

“You can forget it Danny we are going with you,” She said as she adjusted the fit on the Specter Deflector. She and Jack both felt that since she still had a ghost seed inside her that it was best to limit the amount of ecto plasmic energy she would absorb. “Just let us get into the Specter Speeder and we’ll follow after you.”

“I can’t believe we are finally doing this Maddie,” Jack said brightly once they were inside and she had to agree. They’d talked about going into the ghost zone so much but they’d never got around to it. The fact her children had been making regular trips into it for ages detracted a bit but it was still exciting. She saw Danny and Ghost Jack fly ahead into it so they followed. She had to admit her first view of the ghost zone was a bit of a let down just chunks of debris floating. “This place is a dump.” Jack said but her attention was focused on Danny.

“Danny what’s the matter?” She asked as she saw him looking around clearly in shock. She heard Ghost Jack repeating what the real Jack had said but Danny didn’t seem to be listening. “Danny is something wrong?”

“It shouldn’t be like this everything’s wrecked.” He said sounding upset. “There was a stone walk way right here that led to the ghost portal.” He then looked up at the same time as ghost Jack. “There’s a ghost coming get ready in case its not friendly.”

“Oh its you I thought it was Ghost Danny,” A green version of Danielle said as she lowered down. “So Ghost Jack finally popped that’s good if he wants to see the town I’ll give him a tour of what’s left of it.”

“What happened here?” Danny asked looking around. “And Ghost Danny is why we are here the ghost seed that came out of me threw him into the ghost zone in a Fenton Thermos.” She looked over at Jack who had his fingers on the weapons trigger. He was as nervous as she was seeing their son talking to a ghost.

“Someone blew up the satellite that Mr. X was using to keep your rogues gallery contained and it did all this.” The green ghost girl said. “If Ghost Danny is in the thermos can’t that thing find him?” She pointed at them.

“I’ll check the scanners,” She said before Danny could ask and started searching. She’d completely forgotten why they’d come here. She was pleasantly surprised to see that it could detect the thermos. “I’m amazed but I’ve got it just follow us.” She looked at Jack who nodded and they took off in the direction indicated by the scanners. She was suddenly anxious to get this over with and get back to their world.

The destruction got worse as they headed forward and came to a small damaged island chunck where the thermos was visible. She watched Danny fly down to it and then frown. “Its empty and cracked so either he’s already free and out there somewhere or the explosion....” He didn’t finish as he looked around. “Were any ghost killed in the explosion?” He was asking the green ghost girl again.

“Some but most were just knocked for a loop and some of those came back different,” the ghost girl said. “Ghost Kwan for instance is now calling himself the Sport Master and is more like the other ghost obsessed with one thing.” The ghost girl said sadly. “He’s hoarding sports equipment and keeps talking about going back to the real world to become an NFL star with his ghost powers.” The green ghost girl looked grim. “When we lost the town it seems some of us lost our grip on who we were modeled on.”

She was making mental notes to add to her new theories on identity being connected to form for the ghosts. “Why don’t you guys head back to the human world and I’ll keep a look out for Ghost Danny here if I see him I’ll let you know.” She said and then looked over at Ghost Jack. “You can come help me if you want?”

“I was really hoping to wait for ghost Maddie before I came here to the ghost zone,” Ghost Jack said cheerfully. “But it looks like you could really use some help here so I’ll stay for a while.” She was glad because two Jacks was pushing it a bit. “Just send Ghost Maddie to me as soon as she appears.”

Danny looked reluctant but a glance at them and he was flying back toward the gate. “Mom how are we going to tell Jazz and Sam about this.” He sounded tired. “I think he’d have come back by now if could.” She privately agreed unless he’d been changed like that other ghost has been.

“Don’t worry Danny I’m great at giving bad news I’ll handle it.” Jack said and she immediately made plans to distract him when they arrived there was no way she was letting him break this news to the girls.

“Really Dad I should handle it,” Danny said clearly thinking along the same lines. Her husband had many wonderful qualities but tact wasn’t one of them. “Besides you and mom should make sure Mom hasn’t absorbed too much spectral energy.” She was both impressed and disturbed at how quickly he managed to redirect Jack’s focus. She realized he’d been doing it for a while now and that wasn’t a comforting thought.

Lucky Break

“What do you want Plasmius, I’m tired of watching you fail to open the portal.” She said as she arrived following his summons. “You’ve been trying for weeks and all that ever happens is you go all scaly and get the forked tongue.” She suspected it was the power drain causing traits form the original source of the ghost seed to show through.

“I’ve finally figured out why I can’t puncture threw this ridicules zone and escape.” Plasmius said looking at the place he’d kept trying to open a portal. “I simply need a power source to support the portal until I can force my way through.”

“And where Plasmius are you going to find a power source this is the Null zone there is nothing else here but the two of us.” She said and then realized seconds too late what he intended to do. She felt his hand smash into her chest and suddenly her strength was draining. “Let me go Plasmius you can’t do this.”

“Shut up Spectra I need to concentrate and if I’m not careful you’ll die and then I’m stuck here.” He said as he stretched out his other hand and a portal began to form. She felt herself getting weaker and knew she’d black out soon if he didn’t stop. “Its working look Spectra the portal that will take me to freedom sorry but your not coming.” She saw it then the portal it was glowing brightly she silently cursed him and added him to the list to get revenge on. She was just about to black out when suddenly an explosion of energy shot threw the portal and hit him. It just missed her but she could feel the surge of energy as it broke their connection.

She looked over at him once the surge ended pleased to see he was in bad shape covered in scales and his outfit shredded exposing more of his suddenly snake like skin. She quickly turned away and looked toward where the portal was pleased to see it was still there. “Good bye Vlad.” She said diving threw the portal. She looked back immediately pleased to see it had closed after she went through it leaving him trapped in the null zone. “Serves him right now what caused that surge.” She said to herself as she looked around. She realized she was standing in what used to be the Hall of the Observents but it was smashed everything was destroyed floating debris littering the ghost zone. She didn’t know what had happened and she didn’t care she had to find Bertram and with his help recover from what Plasmius did to her then she could start hunting Mr. X and the boy the other two people on her list.

As she flew from the ruins of the Hall she noticed that it wasn’t just one location that had been destroyed everywhere she looked was rubble and she once again wondered what could have caused it. “Hey Octopus Lady a little help?” a ghost called trapped between two pieces of rubble. She ignored the call for help and looked at her self in the nearest reflective surface seeing that her body had sprouted tentecles and a beak. She guessed she finally knew the origin of the ghost seed that created the clone. “Are you going to help me?” The ghost called again.

“No,” She said and flew off she needed to find Betrand more than ever he could help her recover her true appearance. She had to admit having a few tentecles was a small price to pay for her freedom and the satisfaction of leaving Plasmius in the Null Zone to rot. She really had a lucky break today.

The Gift

She sat awake in shock feeling a chill to and looked up to see the ghost seed Danny smiling at her. “Oh it woke you up sorry just one more to go.” He said holding up a venus fly trap that he turned intangible and shoved into her. She felt a stabbing pain as he pulled his hand back. “Was just adding some ghost vegetation to the squid your ghost seed was made from.” He smiled then, “They’ll slow down the maturation of your ghost seed while they are assimilated.”

She ignored him as she reached under her pillow for the wrist laser Danny had given her back at summer camp. She aimed at him but he smiled and held up a wrapped box. “Don’t you want your gift after all it will let you into the ghost zone to save the copy several days early.” She lowered the weapon as he tossed her the box. “I’ve had a change of heart and have decided you deserve the chance for a happy ending so if you can save him then I’ll leave him alone.”

She opened it and found a small metal box with a nozzle on it. “It hooks to the flying surf board that goes with the suit Mr. X gave you I lifted it from his lab its how he flies in and out of the ghost zone so much.” He then frowned. “Unfortunately I don’t have a spare battery so its only good for a few portals before it will be completely out of power.” He pointed at her clock. “I wouldn’t spend more than a few hours in there regardless cause the longer you are in the ghost zone the faster that seed inside you will grow even with what I did to slow it down.” He disappeared then and she was left staring at the device.

She almost took out her phone and called Danny but he was still grounded by his parents and she was sure he’d try to talk her into waiting till the Fenton portal was fixed. She headed to her closet and grabbed the suit she’d been given. She knew this was a bad idea she and Tucker had both sworn never to use these things but she had no choice. She pulled on the suit and tried to figure out how to get the surfboard out. As soon as she thought it popped out of her feet. She leaned down and tried to figure out where to attach the thing. As she was thinking about it slots opened in the board and she at it down where it connected with a click even though she hadn’t seen any prongs on it. She thought about opening a portal and the thing fired. She didn’t know how it worked but the suit did whatever she thought.

“Okay suit take me into the ghost zone and find that thermos,” She said aloud and then she was whisked into the ghost zone She looked around as she flew and saw off in the distance a strange distortion. She’d never seen before in all the times she’d come here. “Lets go see what that is,” She said to herself and soon she was standing in front of a ghost shield in the ghost zone.

She couldn’t believe there was a shield inside the ghost zone she looked threw it and thought she saw Skulker’s island. “Did you think I wouldn’t find out.” An angry voice said and suddenly she was grabbed by Mr. X. “Did you and Tucker Foley really think I wouldn’t find out you were stealing my equipment.” He fired a laser destroying her board and the portal generator. “Come with me girl your lucky I don’t leave you hear.”

She kept ordering the suit to shoot him or something but it ignored her beeping loudly in her ear every time she thought a command. “Don’t bother the suit can’t hurt me they were to protect you from Ghost Seed Danny not to use against me.” He fired a beam form his board that opened a portal and then they were out into the real world in Tucker’s bedroom. “Suit disengage.” The suit she was wearing folded back up into a backpack and he yanked if off her before throwing her onto the bed where Tucker was screaming like a little girl. “Now boy where’s the suit you used to sneak into my home hand it and the stolen technology over.”

“It’s right here,” Ghost Seed Danny said appearing and throwing the extra back pack to Mr. X. “I just borrowed it figuring if it worked for you that it would work for me.” He smiled darkly then. “After all your Fenton ghost detector based security doesn’t recognize a ghost in a ghost hunting suit.” He smiled and pulled out a remote. “Now that Sam is out of the ghost zone I can destroy your satellite.” He pushed a button even as Mr. X dived for him. “And there I just leveled most of the ghost zone that you all are familiar with can’t wait to see what they offer as a reward for me.” He smiled even darker.

“If you really did destroy my satellite then you’ll regret it.” Mr. X said as he stood up and multiple weapons extended from his suite. “I’ll make you pay for interfering in your creators plans little ghost seed.” She glanced at Tucker who was inching toward the door and joined him hoping they could get out before the fight started.”

“Drop the tough guy act little ghost or I tell everyone who you are and why you created us ghost seeds.” The ghost seed Danny said laughing. “I know all about you and your little game you’ll never be king of the ghost zone without the satellite but you can still pull off the other part.” He then shrugged. “Unless I kill what you need to accomplish it.”

“You wouldn’t.” Mr. X said clearly worried and kept the weapons trained on him. “No matter how much darkness was in that boy you wouldn’t murder someone just to stop me.” She felt sick as she realized that this Danny was threatening to kill someone.

“Try me little ghost and find out.” His smile was haunting as he said that. “Now take your stuff and go so my friends and I can have a little chat and if you leave right now I give you my word that I won’t tell them who you are or why you are doing this.” His smile went away. “I just want to tell them all about that satellite so they can go tell the Fenton’s all about it so they’ll know what to expect when they head into the ghost zone in a few days.” She watched as Mr. X put his weapons away and then turning intangible flew out threw the roof.

“He really is a ghost,” Tucker said staring after him. “So what’s this satellite?” Tucker asked as he stared over the ghost Seed Danny who was smiling at them. It was frightening how much he looked like that crazy Danny from the future.

“Oh that Mr. X there just took a trip to the future and copied the plans of Thaddeus Fenton’s ghost zone controlling satellite and came back in time and built it.” The ghost seed Danny said with a shrug. “According to the files in Mr. X’s lab it was built after Danny Phantom’s ghostly existence was ended by some ancient horror that woke up in the ghost zone.” He smiled again. “When it woke up a jewel was discovered in its lair that had the ecto energy output equal to that of the sun and with the satellite could be used to quarantine dangerous ghost in the ghost zone.” She remembered the ghost shield she’d seen. “Only problem was to tap the power the gem had to be cracked so when I blew up this version of the satellite the equivalent of a super nova went off in the middle of the areas of the ghost zone your familiar with.”

“Why would you do any of this?” She had to ask. “Why give me that portal generator and send me in there to see that then wreck everything?” She didn’t know what game he was playing but she had been used by him again.

“Cause it was fun and the idea of that pathetic waste as the new king of all ghost is laughable.” He said smiling. “Be seeing you both another time I’ve got places to go and plenty of things to do.” He disappeared then and she glanced over at Tucker who while she’d been talking had been inching toward a book case.

“What’s behind the book case?” She asked and he showed her that he’d hidden the wrist laser there. “You realize if you’d have blasted him he might have killed us both?” He blanched then and mumbled something about it not being one of his better plans. “I should get home before your parents wake up; I’m amazed they slept through you screaming earlier.” She guessed they were really deep sleepers which she was a bit jealous of her parents were and she had to sneak back in without getting caught without her key.

Part Two of Two

“It just isn’t fair,” Danny said loudly staring at where the ghostly duplicates of their father were helping repair the ghost portal. “I still can’t do that with any reliability and now the ghost seed in dad can do so.” She remembered how on the second night they’d found the ghost version of their dad playing rock paper scissors with himself and then mom had put him to work.

“Danny this is a good thing the work keeps him from causing trouble and we don’t have to hear him yelling to be let out.” She said quickly. “Plus the ghost portal should be working in a few days at the rate they are going so we can go try to save Ghost Danny.” She saw him frown but he didn’t comment. “You do want to save him for Sam’s sake at least she feels really guilty about things?”

“I wouldn’t know she’s avoided me ever since the whole ghost seed ghost incident.” He said still watching the multiple ghost versions of their dad work. She hadn’t known that she’d seen Sam a few times and been asked about the portal but she hadn’t realized Sam was avoiding Danny. “And Tucker absolutely refuses to talk about what the ghost seed ghost said to him.”

“Maybe that’s for the best Danny it might be something really personal.” She said as an explanation. “You said he claimed to spy on everyone the first two nights so he could really hurt them.” She didn’t know how much of the ghost seed ghost had really come form Danny’s own resentments but she did wonder. “Just give them time and once we manage to save Ghost Danny Sam will probably cheer up.”

“If we save him,” Danny said sounding unsure about. “The ghost zone is huge and even if we find the thermos I don’t know how long a ghost can stay in there safely.” She had asked her mother about that but her mom said they’d never done any test on the subject. “I don’t even know if he’ll want to come back after what the ghost seed ghost did to him.” He looked away then. “I really wish I could go back to before this whole event started and stop this ghost hunter before he started all this.”

“There isn’t any going back this time Danny,” She said and meant it. She wished he hadn’t the first time everything came out during that thing with Freakshow instead of making everyone forget. “I think Mom wants us,” she said pointing out their mother and Dani who were waving them over.

“I’ve got good news,” her mother said smiling. “I’ve gone over everything three times and Dani is completely stable there’s no danger of her falling apart again.” She was glad to hear that which meant now they just had to decide what to do with her. She was kind of hoping her parents would find some way to adopt her it would be nice to have a little sister.

Ghost Dad Part 1

“Dad it’s me Danny calm down,” He yelled as he dodged the blast his dad had sent at him. His powers had finally come back and his dad went ghost and attacked him on site. “Mom can you calm him down.” Suddenly he sensed another ghost and his dad was frozen falling to the ground a block of ice.

“He’s even stupider as a ghost isn’t he,” He turned to see the ghost seed ghost that came out of him floating down. His dad broke free then and shot toward the new arrival. “Hey fat idiot you’re a ghost seed ghost remember and that’s your son.” His dad stopped in mid air.

“Oh I complete forgot for a moment,” The ghost seed version of his dad said. “I’m going to go eat Fudge.” He shot off toward the kitchen. He looked over at his mom who looked appalled. “Maddie do we have any fudge?” he said popping back in.

“Even less impulse control than normal just like Mr. X predicted.” The ghost seed Danny said as he floated down beside him. “Now Daniel we need to talk before he remembers how dangerous I am.” He then dodged a blast from one his mother’s guns. “Now come on Maddie no need to pick a fight I’m just here to talk and give you the ghost seed information I stole from Mr. X.” He smiled then. “After all I’ve already given Vlad a copy and if you play nice I’ll even throw in Vlad’s cloning data so you make sure little Dani is really stable.” He looked over at his mother who lowered the gun.

“What do you want to talk about Ghost Seed,” His mother said still keeping her finger on the trigger. He could understand how on edge she was every time he looked at this ghost he saw that nightmare future again.

“Why don’t you just call me Dan it seems to fit,” the ghost seed ghost said looking over at him. “I just thought I’d tell you the order the ghost seeds are going to emerge in since I’m not sharing the estimated release dates with you.” He smiled a bit. “Paulina is next, then Sam and after that comes mommy.” He said pointing at his mother. “Following that is Valerie, Jazz, Dash and last but not least little Tucker Foley.” He then threw two small objets towards his mother. He nearly blasted them but she grabbed them before could. “There’s all the ghost seed information and Vlad’s clone data be seeing you since the idiot just remembered me.” He turned toward the kitchen. “Come get me Fatso.” He shot out of the house then followed by his screaming father.

“Danny go get your father.” His mother said worriedly. He nodded and took off after him. “Bring him back and we’ll put him in the ghost escape proof ..” He couldn’t hear the rest of her statement as he flew out into the night air but he knew what she meant. The containment area his dad stored the ghost his ecto-dejecto enlarged in.

“Come back here ghost,” He heard his dad yelling and it was followed by a scream. He caught up to see his dad getting blasted repeatedly by the ghost seed ghost. He fired a blast of his own at the ghost seed ghost who dodged. “Go get him Danny.” His dad said weakly as he floated toward the ground.

“OH come on Daniel deep down you’ve wanted to blast him yourself.” The ghost seed ghost said. “But you’ll never admit it so goodbye.” The ghost vanished then in a swirl of ectoplasm. He turned and dove down to help his dad up.

“Are you alright,” His dad nodded and then passed out shifting back to human form. He lifted his dad and took off toward the house. He didn’t know how they were going to stop that ghost seed ghost it seemed to know so much more than the rest of them. He headed straight into the basement and found his mother, sister and Dani by the computer. “Dad’s out cold but I think he’s okay.” He said as he sat him down on the table.

His mother and Jazz left the computer and headed over immediately to check on his dad He wasn’t sure what to do so he headed over to see Dani staring at the screen. He looked up to see it was a report on the ghost seeds used on her and how they were made from two ecto-pusses. “Do I even want to ask what was used on me?”

“Ghost Danny was a ghost wolf and Ghost Seed Danny was a ghost badger,” She said looking away from the screen. “Your mother looked up them first and then I asked to see mine just before you got back.”

“Easy Jack can you do me a favor and head in there for a moment.” His mother said drawing his attention back to his dad who was awake and once more a ghost. He wasn’t surprised that his dad happily walked into the room and was trapped. “There now we can get back what we were doing and your father can’t hurt himself.”

Friendly Visit

“So you finally got a cat how appropriate,” He heard as he entered his private office holding Maddie. The ghost seed version of Danny was sitting there with a smug smile. “It makes what I have to say to you even better.”

“Its my sister’s cat,” he said sitting Maddie down. “Now what are you doing here?” The last time he’d seen the ghost seed version of Danny he had laughingly told him that soon Maddie would know everything and he’d never have her. “Well speak up boy or I’ll show you the door.”

“I thought you might be interested in this,” the boy did something on his computer and then turned the screen toward him. “See I brought you the information on how to make ghost seeds since it might help you solve your cloning problems.” The ghostly Danny smiled darkly and hit another button showing two snake ghost one a white cobra ghost and the other an orange boa constrictor. “These snakes were the source of the ghost seeds used on you appropriate don’t you think?”

“Very funny Daniel and what were you made out of?” He saw the boy frown and was glad he’d hit a nerve. He didn’t see anything appropriate at all about his copies being made from snakes. “Well are you going to tell me?”

“I was made from a badger, Mr. X isn’t very original his password was as easy to guess as yours.” The ghost seed Danny said with a scowl. “Maddie&Vlad4ever really Vlad can’t you be more original than that.”

He ignored the insult and focused on what the boy had let slip. “You’ve been to this Mr. X’s liar and been into his computer system?” The boy nodded in response smiling again. “So you know who he really is?” The boy nodded again. “Tell me.”

“No that stays my secret but relax you’ve got all the ghost seed information you need to perfect your cloning more than fair payment for the three million dollars I stole from you.” His response to that was an indignant yell which just made Danny’s smile wider. “I just over shadowed your accountant and had him transfer the money from one of your hidden tax shelter accounts you can more than afford it.”

“That’s not the point I stole that money first.” He considered attacking the boy but then he had another thought. This Daniel was ruthless and amoral he’d be a great deal of help getting what he really wanted. “If you want money you should just come work for me.”

“Not interested,” He said dismissively. “Now if you’ll excuse me Jack Fenton’s ghost seed is activating tonight and I’d really like to be there to see what kind of ghost pops out of him.” The boy smiled again. “I’d invite you along but Maddie would probably try to kill you on sight but just enjoy the fact that Jack’s ghost seed was made from a Baboon ghost.” The boy shot out threw the ceiling then leaving him alone.

“Well Maddie this Mr. X certainly picked the right animal for dear old Jack.” He said as he set down at the desk. “That boy has potential so I think we’ll keep our eyes peeled for how to bring him around to our side.”

Working Things Out

“Here’s the part you wanted,” Danny said quietly as he handed her the piece of equipment she’d sent him to get out of the Ops center. She didn’t like how quiet he was being but it was hard to figure out what to say to him. “Do you need anything else or can I head back up stairs now?”

“You can go upstairs.” She still couldn’t get over how much she and Jack had missed over the last few months. Her son had been risking his life and instead of trusting them he and Jazz had been lying to them all this time. She and Jack had even attacked him several times and they could have killed their own son. She shook herself and then began working on getting the ghost portal repaired. She heard a noise and turned to see Jazz standing there. “What is it Jazz?”

“I was wondering if I can help?” She nodded and moved aside to allow her daughter access. “What should I do?” She knew Jazz was smart but they’d never really tried showing the kids how to repair their technology.

“Just start checking wires and mark any that need to be replaced.” She said and handed over a meter to check them. “Jazz I think I know why Danny didn’t tell us,” she could understand his fear given what they always said they’d do to a ghost if they caught it. “But why didn’t you trust us enough to tell us?”

“I thought it was up to Danny to decide the right time,” Jazz said as she began to work. “I didn’t even tell him I knew until I had to.” She remembered the strange explanation about time travel and evil futures. “I think I finally understand why he made the two of you forget that time though.” She didn’t like to think about that the fact they’d known at some point and Danny had used a powerful ghost artifact to make them forget.

“Really can you tell me why?” That was what really hurt the most she could understand him not telling them out of misguided fear. She didn’t understand why he’d make them forget once they had proven beyond a shadow of a doubt they wouldn’t reject him.

“I think he’s afraid you’d make him stop or try to find some way to take his powers away he loves being a hero.” Jazz said sounding convinced. “These last few weeks without his powers he’s been miserable even before Sam started dating Ghost Danny.” Jazz looked over at the pile of parts that would have to be replaced. “Do you think we’ll be able to get this working and find him?”

She wasn’t sure how she felt about a ghostly copy of her son but she could tell Jazz thought of him as family. “It may take a few days but we can get the ghost portal up and running it’s the time delay I’m worried about.” She looked over at Jazz. “According to Danny and his friends the ghost zone is impossibly vast it may be impossible to find the Fenton Thermos.” She could tell that horrified her daughter. “I don’t know maybe some of those friendly ghost your brother mentioned can help us.” The idea of friendly ghost was hard for her to accept and she was sure that it was hard for Jack to accept too.

“To do that though we need to get this portal open or try getting access to one of the other two.” Jazz said bringing up the idea they’d discussed that she’d shot down. “Vlad is a creep but he does have a working portal.”

“Neither of you kids is going any where near Vlad every again.” She said and meant it. He was a monster and there was no way she was letting either of her kids near him again.“ She had known he was a creep but the full scope of what he’d done had shocked her. She realized she should probably keep Dani away from him too even if the girl’s origins disturbed her. “And I don’t think we should try to find that Mr X because he’s clearly just as manipulative and dangerous as Vlad.” She looked at the wreckage again. “It may take a while but its far safer to just rebuild our own portal and then we can try to find the Ghost Danny.” She could tell Jazz still wasn’t happy but she didn’t say anything else. “Don’t worry honey everything will work out I’m sure of it.” She lied and she could tell her daughter didn’t believe her.
